Saudi money used to fund Bali bombing: U.S. lawyer
CANBERRA, Australia (JP): American lawyer Allan Gerson said here on Tuesday that
he had evidence indicating that money from Saudi Arabia was used to fund terrorist
cells in Europe linked to the bombing on the Indonesian island of Bali last October.
In an interview with Australian Broadcasting Corp radio, quoted by Antara here,
Gerson said evidence he had collected showed that Saudi Arabian individuals had
provided money for a terrorist group to carry out the bombing in Bali.
"When we looked at the actual evidence, we found out, to our surprise, how vast the
network of support was. It extended way beyond cells in Europe to cells in Bali,"
Gerson told the Australian radio.
He claimed to have found evidence that Saudi Arabian men had provided money for
the terrorist group to make a trip to Bali for the bombing.
"I have come across evidence that shows you can connect the dots between terror
cells in Europe that received financing from individuals and entities in Saudi Arabia,"
Gerson said, adding that terrorist cells in Europe definitely have connections with the
Bali bombing.
He said he could not go into the details of all the evidence because he could only
unveil it in court, when they are tried in a number of European countries.
