RP police include Indonesian extremists among suspects in
deadly bomb
MANILA (Agencies): Philippines police are looking into the possible involvement of
Indonesians allegedly linked to the Muslim militant group Jama'ah Islamiyah in last
week's bombing that killed 16 people in the southern Philippines, an official said on
Monday.
National police intelligence chief Robert Delfin said two of five Indonesians linked to a
past bomb attack in the Philippines were reportedly seen in the outskirts of Davao
days before a powerful bomb exploded Wednesday outside the city's bustling wharf.
Police investigators, however, cautioned there was no strong evidence to pin down
any specific group or individuals to the bombing, which also injured 55 people.
Police have released sketches of two suspects, but it wasn't clear if they were
Indonesians,Associated Press reported.
Delfin said the two Indonesians seen in Davao about a week before the April 2 attack
were among five Indonesian associates of Fathurroman Al-Ghozi, another Indonesian
arrested in Manila in January last year.
Al-Ghozi pleaded guilty to charges of possession of explosives in April last year and
was sentenced to 10-12 years in prison.
