Top Bali bomb suspect blasts U.S. attack on Iraq
DENPASAR, Bali (JP): Imam Samudra, a top suspect in the Bali bombings slammed
the U.S. attack on Iraq and urged Saddam Hussein to sit tight when he appeared
before prosecutors on Wednesday in preparation for his trial.
"The United States will inevitably soon be destroyed," a defiant Imam Samudra was
quoted as saying by AFP before he was returned to his cell amid tight security.
"Saddam, please be patient," he added.
Waving a copy of the Koran, he said: "I live because of this and I act because of this."
Barely heard over the clamour of reporters trying to question him, Imam said "I hate
America."
Imam, 35, is described as field commander of the October 12 blasts, which killed 202
people, mainly foreigners.
