Shea, One bit of an update: HQ PMG has moved from Arawa to Loloho. The move was completed last Monday/Tues. The HQ is now housed in demountable buildings just inside the front gate, close to the water. A saksak was built right on the edge of the wharf as the ve ue for O groups, briefings and briefings. Oh and did I mention briefings. You see I am still getting over my first four days in Bougainville.

Hi Shea, I really enjoy visiting your site and seeing recent photo's from home. In the "People of Bougainville" photo section I read the heart-wrenching letter written by the Pok Pok boy written to a Steve. I noticed you were trying to get in contact with "Steve". In case Steve has not contacted you, I believe it might be an old friend of mine called Steven Hurd. The Hurds are a family from the States and were in B'ville as a part of the Summer Institute of Languages (SIL). There mission was translating the bible i to pidgin english. I used to sail and play with the Hurd boys as a kid myself and sailing over to Pok Pok was one of our favorite destinations. In fact when Steve went back to the States, the Hurds gave me their sailing dinghy which I sailed every weekend in Happy Valley until the "State of Emergency" and curfews were imposed by the PNGDF. Just recently (in Nov. 99) Mr and Mrs. Hurd re-visited B'ville on the MV Doulos. I don't know Steven's address but Mr and Mr's Hurd can be email at "conrad_hurd@sil.org" . Hey great website, I was in Bougainville and Buka in Dec 99 and Jan 2000 (as a civilian) and had the opportunity to see you all at work and was even was a guest in some of your vehicles/aircraft!(Much appreciated). Also had the opportunity to invite some of you back to our illage for a ceremony (included Aust/Fiji/Vanuatu army and DFAT. I just wanted to say I was extremely impressed with your work over on my home island. I found everybody from the PMG/TMG very friendly and proffessional. Thanks alot and keep up the good work.
