CATANIA
This UNESCO protected town is the second largest in Sicily, and the province is ninth in Italy.  Rebuilt after a 1693 earthquake, it actually made me feel like I was in Old Montreal with its Baroque architecture.
University of Catania.  This is just one of many pavillions scattered around the city.  It is one of the oldest in Italy, founded in 1434.  Some people tell me that the courses there are pretty hard.....
San Benedetto church, seat of a Benedictan monastery, rebuilt in 1693.
Piazza Bellini, the heart of Catania.  There is a McDonalds' on the left of the picture.  Anyone who knows my ordeal with them can understand why it's not included here...
Castello Ustico.  The most imposing Norman castle I saw in Italy.
Giardino Villa Bellini, Catania's answer to Places Versailles.  This is the entrance, and I admit it's not a good picture, but I can easily do an entire Web site on this garden alone....
