A few tips to somewhat idenitify some items without the use of any magics using common sense.

If you find any weapon or armor fresh off a mob that isn't flawless and has special unidentified properties, the item is
extra durable.

Armor & Shields can be only three things:
Shrouded, Soft White Light or Extra Durable.

If it's flawless, then it is not extra durable.
Shroud will wear off eventually, whether it be in your inventory or in a vault or chest somewhere.  Usually by the next day shroud has worn off the item.

Now for weapons with unidentified special properties.  Look under
Picking up Cursed Weapons to make sure you don't get stuck with a cursed weapon.   Pick up the weapon in question using one of the methods on that page.

To use a
justice weapon you must have a white, innocent name or it will hurt you with a message and not let you equip it.

To use any karma/spell weapon you must have 50% at least in the skill of the weapon.    If you don't have at least 50% in the weapon skill of the weapon in question, you can try to equip it.  If you can, it's not:
Purge, Blind, Hold, etc.

If you do have 50% in the skill of the weapon in question then equip it and use it for a couple of fights.   And watch the messages when you hit the creature you are fighting.
Chances are if you don't see anything different it could be:
tournament, cohlorr's, justice, guildhall, soft white light, etc.

These aren't ways to actually tell for certain every weapon you find but it can help you identify a few of them until you find someone who can or get to a place where you can do it yourself with the right equipment.

*NOTE: If you have an ID wand and your karma is over pos 30 and you get the message "You point the wand but it does nothing" or something similiar to that, it means the item is shrouded.

Using common sense to identify certain items.
