Reisebericht über Brasilien (Deutsch)

Der
Anflug auf Sao Paulo ist beeindruckend, das Meer der Dächer will einfach nicht
enden in der 2. grössten Stadt der Welt. Nach umsteigen dort fliege ich weiter
nach Foz de Iguazu im Süden des Landes. Nach dem Frühstück nehme ich den
lokalen Bus um mir die Wasserfälle von der argentinischen Seite aus anzusehen.
Im National Park sind über 250 Wasserfälle mit einer Gesamtlänge von ca. 3
Kilometer die sich bis 80 Meter in die Tiefe stürzen. Man kann Sie aus diversen
Winkeln sehen: von einem Turm, entlang eines Weges, aus der Froschperspektive,
von ganz nah entlang glitschigen Treppen und aus der Bahn und diversen
Plattformen. Der Park selbst bietet viele schattige Örtchen, viele Vögel,
Eidechsen, Schmetterlinge und ab und zu ist sogar ein Affe zu sehen. Abends
besuche ich erstmals eine Churrascaria – ein Restaurant das besonders
Fleischliebhaber zu schätzen wissen. Am nächsten Tag besuche ich den grössten
Staudamm der Welt (produziert 90% der Energie von Paraguay und 25 % der Energie
Brasiliens) und werfe eine Blick von der brasilianischen Seite auf die Wasserfälle.
Danach fliege ich nach Brasilia der Hauptstadt in Zentralbrasiliens in der Mitte
der Pampa. Die Stadt wurde auf dem Reissbrett entworfen und hat vor allem
futuristisch wirkende Gebäude als Attraktion. Das Treiben und die Menschen
erinnert stark an eine europäische Stadt hauptsächlich die fein angezogenen
Beamten und Geschäftsleute. Weiter geht es nach Manaus ganz im Norden, die
Stadt inmitten des Amazonas. Den ersten Tag
nütze ich um die Stadt anzusehen und zum „Treffen der Wasser zu
fahren“. Dort treffen sich die beiden riesigen Flüsse, der eine schwarz und
der andere weiss (verschiedene Farben durch die unterschiedlich starke Strömung).
Abends ein Konzert im Opernhaus mit einer traditionellen brasilianischen Band im
wundervollen und alten Konzertsaal mit seinen Wandbildern und Leuchtern aus dem
letzten Jahrhundert. Frühmorgens per Bus und danach weiter mit dem Boot in den
Urwald zum Camp. Als zusammengewürfelte Gruppe mit Führer beschäftigen wir
uns in den nächsten Tagen mit Fischen von Piranhas oder mit dem Speer, erkunden
des Dschungels zu Fuss, im Kanu zum Tiere beobachten und den nächtlichen
Beobachtungen von Alligatoren. Immer wieder unvergesslich ist das Konzert der
Tiere im Urwald nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit und das schlafen unter freiem
Himmel in der Hängematte wo tausend Sterne zu sehen sind.
Nächster
Stop ist Natal an der Nordküste ein Ort gemacht für Ferien mit seinen unzähligen
Stränden. Leider fängt es am zweiten Tag an zu regnen und lässt kaum nach bis
ich wieder abreisen muss. So wandere ich ein bisschen in der Stadt herum, kaufe ein
paar Kleinigkeiten ein, schlafe aus und lese die zwei mitgebrachten Bücher
statt am Strand braun zu werden. Wenigstens ist abends etwas los; nach guten
Nachtessen ziehe ich durch die Bars und Nachtklubs die eine Fülle
abwechslungsreicher Musik auf Lager haben meistens sogar live. Ich lerne die
BrasilianerInnen als
freundliche Menschen kennen jedoch ist die Sprachbarriere meist zu gross.
Es geht weiter nach Salvador, wo ich im Themis Hotel (im 7. Stock) einen Platz
finde. Abermals treffe ich auf eine Gruppe anderer Reisenden, zusammen
verunsichern wir nun die Strassen Salvadors...... Die Stadt ist bekannt für
ihre Kultur, Musik und die Märkte, den „Sport“ Copeira (etwas zwischen Tanz
und Selbstverteidigung entstanden in der Sklavenzeit) und religiöse Rituale (Candomble).
Pelourinho die Altstadt ist voll von alten Kirchen, Geschäften, Restaurants und
ein jeder hat etwas zu verkaufen hier. Eine Menge von Polizei wacht über diesen
Teil den täglich besuchen hunderte von Touristen den Stadtteil, dies zieht die
Bettler, Diebe, Strassenkinder und Drogenabhängige geradezu in Scharen an.
Allein die Tatsache das die Einwohner fast ausschliesslich schwarz sind, weniger
gebildet und weniger respektiert gibt Ihnen weniger Hoffnung auf eine bessere
Zukunft. Dies ist spätestens am Dienstag Abend vergessen, wenn in den Strassen
das Fest steigt mit Musik, Essen, Tanz und einer Menge alkoholischer Getränke.
Rio
de Janeiro ich bin angekommen – die schönste Stadt der Welt ? Für mich
bisher ja mit der tollen Lage, seiner Lebendigkeit und der Ausdrucksfähigkeit.
Da gibt es die Buchten, die endlos langen Strände, die steilen, felsigen Hügel
die bis in grosse Höhen grün überwachsen sind und die Favelas (Armenviertel)
die sich einen Hügel hinaufziehen rücken auch ab und zu in Sicht Es gibt so
viele Attraktionen: zwei Aussichtspunkte Corcovado (Christusstatue) und
Zuckerhut, der Strand zum bräunen oder um dem Treiben zuzuschauen, einkaufen in
einem der riesigen Supermärkte oder am Strassenmarkt, Kultur und Architektur
vor allem in der Nähe des Zentrums, die Restaurants die zum schlemmen einladen,
die Bars und Klubs von traditionell, verträumt, laut, lokal bis modern und überlaufen
und erlebe ein Fussballspiel im grössten Stadion der Welt im Maracana. Die
Cariocas „Bewohner Rios“ sind bunt gemischt und fast alles wird toleriert,
nachgeahmt und beguckt; rein äusserlich ist es fast unmöglich zwischen
Bewohner und Besuchern zu unterscheiden. Es geht lebhaft und lebendig zu und her
am Strand, beim Sport, auf den Strassen, auf dem Weg zur Arbeit, es gibt immer
etwas zu diskutieren oder zu tratschen und es ist ein beobachten und beobachtet
werden. Das Leben findet heute statt – was morgen ist darum kümmern wir uns
auch morgens.

Es gibt viel zu erzählen über Brasilien: Seine enorme Grösse, seine abwechslungsreichen Landschaften und die Menschen die so vielfältig und unterschiedlich sind. Die Einstellung zum Leben und die Ideale sind erfrischend anders, die Begeisterungsfähigkeit und auch der Tagesablauf. Auffallend ist sich in den Mittel- punkt zu stellen und aufzufallen und der vordergründige Stolz. Für mich ein Land, das mit einem eigenen, faszinierenden Leben noch tausendene von Plätzen zum entdecken hat. |

My first view of brazil are the endless roofs of the buildings of Sao Paulo from the airplane short before landing. After 3 hours of waiting in the transit area the connecting flight brings me to foz the iguacu a small city in the south. After the breakfast I catch a bus to see the waterfalls from the Argentinean side. Inside this national park are the falls – spectacular approximately 250 falls in a totally length of 3 km falling down up to 80 meters. You can climb a tower to see them, walk over the top of them, ride the train, climb along stairs up and down and have a view from the frog perspective. Roam around the park is interesting too trough forest with some monkeys on the trees or lizards on the rocks. In the evening back on the Brazilian side I get a first taste of a meal in a churrascaria – if you like meat you will just love that institution. The biggest dam in the world I visit next morning which produces 25% of the electricity for brazil and about 90 percent for Paraguay. in the afternoon another view to the falls from the Brazilian side which is farther away and then with the plane to Brasilia the capitol of the country (central but in the middle of nowhere). The attraction are here the futuristic government buildings, churches or the tower for the view. A city exactly planed (at least the centre) with a lot of business peoples it almost seems to be like back home. Now up north to Manaus in the middle of the Amazon. First day, a stroll in the city and then to the meeting of the waters where two huge rivers meet each other, one with black coloured water and the other white one. In the opera house we visit a concert of a traditional Brazilian band. Early wake up and lets go to the jungle by public bus and then by boat to the camp. The next days we are busy with fishing (Piranhas or spear fishing), walks in the jungle, nightly alligator spotting and paddle around with a canoe for birdwatching. After I gets dark its bedtime; swing your ass in the hammock and listen to the jungle concert or watch the stars on the sky.
The next stop is Natal on the north coast a place build for holidays with endless number of beaches. Unfortunately it starts to rain on my second day there and it not stops till I have to leave. So more or less I’m stocked with wandering around, shopping, laundry, read my two books I did take with me and checking out some city sights instead of laying on the beach. There a lot of Brazilians in holiday and as disappointed as myself. The night start with good food in one of the restaurants nearby and a couple of drinks; mostly of the language barrage I’m hardly able to have a chat with most of the locals. There a couple of good nightclubs in town with a wide range of music styles from local, jazz, rock to "techno". I recommend "Blackout" a small place with a varied program and friendly peoples. Just before dark I arrive in Salvador de Bahia where I got my base in the lovely Themis Hotel (7. floor) with his terrace from where you can see over the old part of the city. I met up with a good group of other travellers and had a lot of fun and some good laughs with them during the next days. Salvador it’s known for it markets, music, copeira (a dance/self defence originated in the slavery time) and his religious rituals (candomble). Pelourinho the old part of the city is full of churches, stores and other buildings and everybody is selling something…A lot of police is watching over this area which is necessary for it safety; a lot of beggars, drug addicts and thieves are hanging around here and pretty much all the tourism is concentrated in here as well. It’s still visible that the peoples here because of the reason they are black, less educated and less respected got the smallest chance for a better future. This is forgotten at least once a week (Tuesday night) when there is a colourful celebration with music, food stalls, dance and heavy drinking.
Rio the Janeiro I’m on the way. The most beautiful city in the world – so far yes. The location is unique the sea, the bays, the beaches and then steep up the stone hills covered with green vegetation. The peoples are a mixture of the races, pride, relaxed, open for new and vivid. The lifestyle is important the cariocas “inhabits of rio”, see and be seen on the beach, the walkway used for sport, whenever and wherever there is always something to discuss or just a rest after work on of the beaches nearby. There are so many attractions: get a view over the city from the Christ rentenador or Sugar leaf, get bronzed on one of the beaches and enjoy the float, go shopping on a market or in one of the huge shopping malls, enjoy culture and architecture in the city centre, enjoy a nice dinner, head out at night in the bars or clubs and last but not least go for a football game in the biggest stadium in the world the maracana. There are many problems in Rio too, but almost nobody like to bother about – live today and see what it is like tomorrow.

There are so many things to tell about brazil: The huge size, the varied landscapes and the peoples so different, colorful and so manifold. The ideals and the way of life is refreshing different, the enthusiasm and how to celebrate leisure and daily routine. There is pride, joy of life and the fun to watch peoples and the joy to be watched yourself.
