THIS SITE HAS MOVED PERMANENTLY!! I have finally had to break down and pay for web hosting. This site has outgrown the free webspace and
bandwith that Geocities allows. In August 2005 I completed all of Colorado's 14ers, so please visit my new site for complete trip reports of every 14er, slideshows, and 360 degree summit panoramas. The new URL for my website will permanently be http://www.rexheadd.com, much easier to remember. With my new web host I'm allowed much more webspace, bandwith and faster
servers which will allow me to provide better content to you. Please update your bookmarks and use http://www.rexheadd.com to find me on the web.
About This Site
This site contains photos and route descriptions for most of the mountains I have climbed. Most of the climbs are Colorado 14ers, U.S. 50 Highpoints, and various mountains in Wyoming including the Tetons and the Wind River Range. Use the category links across the top of the page to navigate to that section of my website. I often find that most guidebooks lack good photos of the route and it's hard to get a mental picture of the "class 4 crux" from a book. I try to capture the essence of a climb with pictures along the route from trailhead to summit. I hope this site proves useful and will give you a better understanding of a climb before you undertake it. Keep in mind, climbing is inherently dangerous and everybody's physical conditioning, climbing ability and tolerance for exposure are different, just because I say it's an easy class 3 for me, doesn't mean it will be for you. Climb safely and within your abilities, the mountains are beautiful but not worth dying for, the summit will always be there tomorrow.
Words to Live By
"Do not burn yourself out.
Be as I am-a reluctant enthusiast...a part time crusader, a
half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your
lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for
the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can.
While it is still there. So get out there and hunt and fish and
mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the
forests, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains, bag the peaks.
Run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit
quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that
lovely, mysterious and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your
brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the
body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you
this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those deskbound
people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes
hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this: You will
outlive the bastards."---Edward Abbey(1927-1989)
