Boone County, Kentucky, Encyclopedia


Burlington, County Seat; originally named Craig's Camp after John Hawkins Craig, a Revolutionary War Veteran. It was incorporated in 1824, but lost that status. It was reincorporated in 1910, but the charter was annulled in 1923. It is said to be the only unincorporated county seat in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
