Biography Discography BIOGRAPHY : Bruce was born in Freehold, NJ on September 23, 1949, the first child of Adele and Doughlas Springsteen. His Father was a truck driver and who wanted his son to go to school and become a lawyer. But at the age of 13 Bruce was seized with a passion of rock n roll, and the guitar. his first exposure to the music was seeing Elvis on the popular American TV variety programme The Ed Sullivan show. That was the signal of the arrival of a new rock n roll icon... There have been several changes in the line-up In 1971 Bruce formed Dr.Zoom and The Sonic Boom. They played three dates, including one supporting the Allman Brothers band. The band quickly broke upbecause of its size ( it was a ten peice band), but it was soon playing dates as a five piece. But that didn't work, so Bruce had to try it as the solo artist. In 1973 he came out his first album named Greetings From Asbury park, NJ.Many of the conflicts and problems of image surrounding his muisc was abetted by Bruce himself. He didn't discard all his folkie tendencies until 1974 and his eclecticism often led to disjoint the show. But it was this drive, this push towards a personal musical structure that was his greatest strength. His ambitions led him to take on the dreams and hopes of the biggest city of them on 1973's The Wild, The Innocent and The E Street Shuffle. Everywhere Bruce and the E Street Band appeared, audiences responded with wild enthusiasm. A devoted cult following in several cities began to insist that, as judged by his live performances, Bruce was indeed the new voice the nation had been waiting for.
