 THE BAND
BIOGRAPHY Megadeth was born in 1983, right after the MegaMan, Dave Mustaine was kicked off Metallica. The major reason for that was that Mustaine had his problems , and many of them (Drugs!!!). He joined bassist Dave Ellefson and to this day they remain the heart of Megadeth. Other members then were guitarist Chris Poland and drummer Gar Samuelson. Mustaine intended to be only lead guitarists but the lead singer they had (no names...) sucked. Mustaine started to sing only after that singer came to a show one day with a 6 pack of beer and makeup on his face. Mustaine kept the beer and sent that singer to hell. From that show, Mustaine started singing. In 1985, Megadeth had i'ts first album out called KILLING IS MY BUSINESS, AND BUSINESS IS GOOD! This album puts Megadeth on the speed/thrash metal map.In 1986, Megadeth releases another album, PEACE SELLS, BUT WHO'S BUYING?!. After this record, Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson leave the band and are replaced by Jeff Young and Chuck Behler. Megadeth then releases it's only album with this line-up, SO FAR SO GOOD SO WHAT, in 1988. It includes a song written on the day Cliff Burton had died, In My Darkest Hour, which is one of the best Megadeth songs. In 1989 another line-up change occurs, as Behler and Young leave Megadeth and are replaced by current drummer and guitarist, Nick Menza and Marty Friedman. Friedman (who is Jewish) was in a band called Cacophony with another guitarist, and they released 2 albums, which included mostly instrumental stuff. His unique sound makes this combination work well, and in 1990 Megadeth releases another album, RUST IN PEACE. Since then Megadeth sticks to i'ts line-up and produces 2 more albums ,1992, COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION and 1994,YOUTHANASIA. I think that YOUTHANASIA is their best album ever. 1995 they released HIDDEN TREASURES which is an album with songs from movie-soundtracks that they have done. It contains also one new great song called "Problems". |
