Does the provider offer an educational program? If the provider transports your child, is the provider trained on car seat and vehicle safety? Ask about the provider's driving record. Values What are the provider's philosophy and values? How does the provider discipline children? How does the provider individualize learning activities, naps, mealtimes, and toliet training? Communication Does the caregiver share information with you on how your child is doing? Can you visit your child at any time? Experience How long has the caregiver provided child care? What type of education does the provider have? Did you contact Community Care Licensing for the caregiver's past history? Qualifications Has the provider completed the legal requirements of CPR, first aid and other training courses? Has the provider passed the required health and safety tests? Does the provider have fingerprints and crimial background checks registered with the local, state and/or federal govt? Operation What hours does the family child care operate? What age does the provider care for? How many children will the provider care for? What is the staff -to- child ratio? Did you contact Community Care Licensing to verify the legal limits for staff -to- child ratio? If the provider has children of her own, are they counted in the ratio? Location Where is the home located? Is it a safe location? Are there any traffic or crime concerns? Cost What are the monthly fees? Late fees? Registration fees?
