Chapter Seventeen

A Weekend In Mystery

April 13th 2003

It was a rainy Sunday afternoon in Detroit.  Marshall was out of town for the weekend working on some promo stuff for his upcoming CD.  Even though AJ was upset that Marshall wouldn’t let him come along, he got extremely excited when Justin said he would come over and keep him company.

“Where’s Hailie this weekend?”  Asked Justin while he and AJ sat in the family room watching movies.

“Kim came and got her yesterday.  She should be back in a few hours.”  AJ replied.  “Who do you think killed him?”

Justin laughed.  “Depends on what ending you want.”

AJ turned back to the movie a little confused by what Justin had just said.  “There is more then one ending?”

“Yup, and I’m not going to tell you who killed Mr. Body.  You have to keep watching and find out for yourself.” Said Justin.

The two had been watching the move Clue for the last hour, and AJ was getting really intrigued with the whole plot of ‘who killed whom, with what.’  It didn’t help AJ that he knew Justin had seen the movie before, and wouldn’t tell him how it turned out.  “Come on Just, you gota tell me.”

Justin shook his head.  “Nope, cuz I know that as soon as I do you are going to yell at me for telling you.”

AJ pouted.  “I will not.”

“You will too. It happened last time when we watched Brigit Jones’ Diary.  You got mad at me when I told you that he really wasn’t mad for reading the diary, and that he had left to get her a new one.”  Exclaimed Justin.

AJ continued to pout.  “I wonder what it would be like to be in the middle of a murder mystery.”

Justin shrugged his shoulders.  “I dunno, but it’s becoming a big thing to have those murder mystery parties and shit.  So, I guess everybody is wondering the same thing.”

What Justin just said got AJ even more interested.  “You mean you can actually have parties like that?”

Justin nodded.  “Sure, you just have to call one of these places you can find on the net, and they set up the whole thing.  Send you your character sheets and set up the place where the whole thing is gunna take place.”

AJ got a huge smile on his face and jumped up off the couch.  “This is so fucking cool!”

“AJ, you can’t mean you actually want to do this?  I mean its stupid and fake you know that right.”

“Of course I know it’s fake Justin, it’s just the thought of being somewhat part of a murder mystery is something I’ve always wanted to do.”

Justin shook his head.  “Alright, I will have to admit this seems pretty cool.  I’d like to see how you get the others to go along with it thought.”

The house was completely dark by the time Marshall walked through the door. It was after midnight, so he assumed AJ and Hailie were in bed fast asleep.  Quietly Marshall made his way up the stairs.  Checking on Hailie before he made his way to his and AJ’s room.  When he got there he was surprised to see that AJ wasn’t asleep after all, but sitting up in bed looking very intently at the laptop he had sitting on his lap.

“What you looking at?”

AJ jumped at the sound of Marshall’s voice.  “Jesus fucking Christ Marshall don’t sneak up on a person like that.”

Marshall laughed. “Sorry.”  He sat down next to AJ on the bed trying to read what the screen said.  “Please don’t tell me you’re looking at those freaky fan fiction sights again.”

AJ shook his head. “Nope, just looking some stuff up that’s all.”

“Baby stuff?”

“Nope.”

Marshall was getting frustrated.  What was AJ being so secretive about.  “Are you going to tell me what it is or not?”

AJ didn’t respond for a second just kept looking at the screen and getting a cheesy smile on his face every few seconds.  Finally he moved his hands from the mouse and clapped them together.  “Yes!”

“What?”

AJ smiled.  “Are you doing anything this weekend?”

“Not that I know of. Why?”

AJ got up off the bed and walked over to the corner of the room where a desk sat with another computer on it.  Grabbing a cable he hooked it to the laptop, clicking some buttons the printer started to whorl. When everything was printed out, he logged of the Internet and walked back over to the bed, handing Marshall the pieces of paper.  “Look at this.”

Marshall took the papers from AJ with caution “The last time you handed me pieces of paper you were telling me you wanted to get pregnant.”

“Just read it for crying out loud. I promise its nothing life altering.”

Marshall did what AJ asked and began to read.  Looking up at AJ’s happy face every few seconds. Finally he was done reading and he put the papers down on the bed.  “You want us to go this weird looking Inn, and pretend to be somebody else and be part of a murder?”  He asked trying to make sure he got all this stuff straight.

AJ nodded his head up and down violently.  “Doesn’t it sound like a fun idea!”

Marshall took a deep breath.  “I don’t know Jay, it seems kinda hokey to me.”

AJ’s happy mood turned full circle when he heard Marshall’s words.  “You don’t want to do it then.” He said looking down at the ground, willing the tears not to fall from his eyes.

Marshall groaned, and pulled AJ closer to him on the bed.  “I never said that. If this means that much to you then we can do it.”

AJ looked up and whipped at one of the single tears that had falling down his cheeks.  “You mean that?”

“Yeah.”

*****@*****

AJ looked all around the room at his friends. Neither of them saying anything.  “Don’t just sit there guys, tell me what you’re thinking.”

Nick got a huge smile on his face.  “I’m loving the idea!”

“Nobody is really going to get killed right?”  Asked Kristin.

“What are we going to do with Baylee?”  Asked Leighanne.

“Vanessa can come too right.”  Asked Howie.

“Guys..”

“Is this really a good idea for the pregnant people?”  Asked Kevin.

“Guys…”

“How far away is this place.”  Asked Brian
“WOULD YOU GUYS SHUT UP!”  Yelled AJ over all the commotion in the room.

Everybody turned to AJ in shock, but shut up.

“Thank you.  God, how am I supposed to answer all of your questions if you are yelling them at me from all angels.”

“Sorry.” Came everybody’s mumbled reply.

“Now first off, Kristin nobody is really going to be killed.  It’s all a show. And everybody who is going to be ‘Killed’ will already know this when they get their character cards.”

“Leighanne, I’ve already talked to my mom and she said she is willing to take all the kids, and that would be Aaron too. Cuz you have to be at least sixteen to do this.”

“Howie, Vanessa is more then welcome to come.  Actually I expected her to come.”

“Kevin, nothing bad is going to happen.  So being pregnant isn’t going to hurt anything.”

“Brian, I believe that this place is about two hours away, give or take a few.”

Marshall laughed at AJ’s information.  “Well, I think he just covered everything guys.”

All members of Backstreet looked at each other.

“All right AJ, we’ll do your little murder mystery weekend thing.”

*****@*****

“AJ, this place is beyond creepy.”  Whispered Marshall as he and AJ made their way up the driveway to Lion Stone Inn.
“Marshall, quit being such a baby.  This is great.”  Said AJ in awe at the large almost castle looking building.

Marshall grumbled something under his breath and followed AJ inside.

Once inside they found themselves in a large foyer with paintings and weird tiled floor.

“You must be James and Bruce.”

Marshall and AJ turned around to see an elderly man standing behind them.

AJ smiled.  “Yeah, I’m James, and this here is my friend Bruce.”  He said holding his hand out for the elderly man to shake it.

“I’m Carlton, I’ve been told to show you to the dinning room, where you will wait for the rest of our guests.”

James and Bruce followed Carlton down a long hallway to a large room with a ten-foot table.

“You can stay in here until everyone else shows.” With that Carlton walked out of the room letting the hark oak doors shut behind him

“AJ, this is really hokey.”  Said Marshall looking around the room.

AJ glared at Marshall.  “BRUCE, I need you to do this for me.”  He said trying to make sure Marshall understood that until midnight they had to use their character names.

Marshall got the hit, and sat down in his chair.  This was going to be one boring weekend.

*****@*****

“I can’t believe I’m wearing a dress.”  Exclaimed Justin as he got out of the car.

Nick giggled.  “I think you look hot baby.”

Justin just glared at Nick and pulled the weggy he was getting from the panties Nick insisted went with the outfit.

“Isn’t that Marshall’s car?”  Asked Nick as they made their way to the door.

“Yup, I had a feeling AJ would make them be the first ones here.”

Once they got to the door it swung open for them.  Walking in they expected to see somebody holding it open.

Seeing the look in Justin’s eyes, Nick said.  “I’m sure its some type of automatic door.  You know kinda like they have in supermarkets.”

“You must be Justina and Gene Godspeed.”  We’ve been expecting you.

Nick turned around quickly to see a white haired man looking at them.  “Uh, yeah that’s us.”

“Follow me.”  Was all the man said before he started walking down the hall.

“I guess we better follow him.”

*****@*****
A half an hour later everybody was sitting around the long table, not exactly sure what was to happen next.  AJ was the first to speak.

“We should probably go around and say a little about ourselves. So I guess I’ll go first.  I’m James Godspeed.  Marcum Godspeed was my brother.”   AJ then looked at Marshall to say something.

Marshall cleared his throat.  “I’m Bruce Pennington. I was Mr. Godspeeds bodyguard.”

Justin was sitting next to Marshall so he went next.  “I’m Justina Godspeed.  Marcum was my husband.”  He said whipping a tear from his eye.  “May he rest in peace.”

Nick patted Justin on the back.  “It’s ok Mom.” Sighing he turned to everybody else.  “I’m Gene Godspeed, Marcum was my father.”

Kevin was next to Nick.  “I’m Scott Richards.  I’ve been Marcum’s right hand man for the last twenty years.  I had just recently became Vic President of Godspeed Records.”

“I’m Krissy Richards.  If you hadn’t guessed already, I’m Scott’s wife.”  Said Kristin

Leighanne looked around the room and smiled.  “And I’m Anne Godspeed.  Marcum was my son.”

“Same goes for me.  Well, I’m not Marcum’s mother, but I’m his father.  Thomas Godspeed’s the name.”  Said Brian.

Everybody turned to look at Howie and Vanessa.

“And who might you two be?”  Asked Justina.

“I’m Dwaine, and this here is Veronica.  We were worked for Godspeed.”

“What, like were you the butler and maid of something?”  Laughed Thomas.

“Actually yes.  If you must know I was his maid, and Dwain was his butler.  Had been for the last five years.”  Said Vanessa, getting slightly annoyed at this Thomas and Justina people.

“Now, I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m missing a very important golf tournament.  So if it means anything I would kind of like to figure out why we are all here and get the hell away from this fucking creepy place.”  Said Marshall.
AJ couldn’t help but smile at the way Marshall was getting into his character. Maybe this weekend wasn’t going to be so bad after all.

*****@*****

After dinner that was provided by the Lion Stone Inn, everybody gathered together in the lounge.

“Does anybody have any idea why we are all here?”  Asked Scott

James puffed smoke in Scott’s face.  “Mr. Richards. I think you know why we are here.”

Scott backed away from James to get away from the smoke.  “I don’t have the foggiest idea, but I have a feeling YOU do.”

James laughed. “Well, it sure as hell has something to do with the fact that Marcum Godspeed was killed last week, and nobody knows who did it.”

“You don’t think, that somebody thinks one of us did it!”  Exclaimed Krissy.

“I don’t just think they think it. I know they think it.  Why else would they call total strangers to house like this.”

“I’m only the maid.  Why in the world would I want to kill anybody?”  Asked Vanessa.

“Maybe you put to much starch in his shirts.”  Laughed Anne.

Vanessa glared at the woman.  “Well, at least I take time to actually wash somebody’s shirts.”

“Would, you woman just shut up for a second.  We’re not going to get home any faster if we don’t just sit down like civil people and talk this over.”  Stated Thomas.

“Mr. Godspeed is right.  We need to just sit back and thing of reasons why…”

“AAAAAAHHHHH”

“What was that?”  Asked Krissy, clinging to Scott’s arm.

“It sounded like it came from the kitchen.”  Called Bruce who was still sitting on the couch.

“Well, don’t just sit there go and find out what it was.”  Said Dwaine.

“Why do I have to go?”

“You’re were a bodyguard.  You’re used to putting yourself in dangerous situations.”

“Ok, fine.  But you are all coming with me.  We can’t have anybody being able to do anything else.”

With that everybody followed Bruce slowly down the hallway till they walked into the kitchen.

“I don’t see anything.”  Stated Vanessa looking around the kitchen.

Scott walked over to the other side of the counter. “Uh, guys. I think you need to see this.”

Everybody walked to the other side of the counter.

“Oh hell!”  Exclaimed Vanessa looking down at the dead body of the cook.  “Is she?”

“I think so.”  Said Bruce checking to see if there was a pulse.

“AAAHHHH”

“Oh great not again!”  Exclaimed Thomas as he started walking to the door.  “Well, isn’t anybody else coming.”

Everybody followed Thomas down the hallway to find Gene hunched over another dead body.

“What did you do!”

Gene looked up at everybody standing in the doorway.  “I was walking back from the bathroom and looked in to find where you guys went, and then I saw him lying on the ground.”  Said the young man obviously in shock.

“Uh huh sure.  I don’t know about you guys, but I think we need to lock Gene here up.” Suggested James.

“Lock me up! I haven’t done anything, I swear.”

“I wouldn’t swear young man.  Your father wouldn’t have liked it.”  Said Justina.

Everybody turned to see Justina.  “Have you been with us the whole time?”  Asked Scott.

“Sure I have.”

“What are we going to do about the cook in the kitchen and now Carlton.”  Asked Dwaine.

“We need to put them in the same room with Gene here, and make him regret what he did.”  Said James.

“Regret what he did!  He hasn’t done anything.”  Said Justina walking over to her stepson.  “Gene is a good boy.”

“I agree with James.  We need to lock up Gene with the bodies. At least that way nobody can get hurt any longer.”

Everybody else in the room nodded.

“Does this room lock?”  Asked Bruce.

Thomas walked over to the door and looked at it. “Yeah it does, the key is sitting in the lock.”

“Then this is what we’re going to do.  Lock Gene with the bodies in this room…”

*****@*****

12:02pm

“Yo Nick, you ok in there man?”  Asked Brian as he opened the locked door to the lounge.

Nick looked up from his game boy once Brian walked into the room.  “Hey Rok, wana play?”

Brian looked around the room.  “Where is the cook and Carlton?”

Nick laughed.  “They got up and walked out of the room once you guys locked the door. I’ve just been sitting here playing for the last 3 hours.  What have you guys been doing?”

“Not much Nick, just talking about why we think you killed those people.”  Laughed Marshall as him and AJ walked into the room.

“Hey Em, stop that now. You know we aren’t supposed to be talking about this now.  It’s after midnight.  We are just plain old Marshall and AJ now remember.”  Said AJ lightly hitting Marshall in the arm.

“Oh yeah.”

“So what do you guys want to do now?”

“Well, I don’t wana go to bed yet.  I’m to spiked up from all this ‘who killed who’ stuff.”  Said Kevin as he walked into the room with Kristin tow.  “Leigh went to call Denise to see how the kids were doing.”

“I have an idea, why don’t we play truth or dare.”  Suggested Nick jumping up and down in his seat.  “We haven’t played that in years.”

Brian groaned.  “There’s a reason why we haven’t played that in years, we are adults now Nick.  You’re going to be a daddy in a few months.”

Nick shrugged.  “So what, I cant be a hip dad now?”

“You know truth or dare does sound kind of fun.  We used to have fun doing that.”  Said AJ.

“All right fine. Lets get started.”

Everybody sat around on the different pieces of furniture in the room.  Vanessa and Howie joined them once they were all seated.

“What are we playing?” Asked Howie?”

“Truth or dare.”

Vanessa giggled.  “Oh I just love this game! Can I ask the first question?”

“Sure go ahead.”

Vanessa thought for a second and got an idea in her head. She has always been wanting to know what she was about to ask.  “Marshall, truth or dare?”

“Truth.”

‘Yes, he picked the one I wanted him too.’  She thought to herself.  “Ok, tell me who you and Marshall first met. Marshall groaned but got a huge smile on his face at the same time.

*****Flashback*****(As he tells the story to Vanessa.)

Marshall Mathers was standing around the huge New Years party.  It was  1:00am and the party was still going strong.  I guess it was true that everybody wanted to party like it was 1999.  Well, at the moment it was already 2000, but that didn’t seem to stop anybody.  Sighing he looked around the room, once again wondering why in the world he had let Dre drag him to this stupid Dick Clark bash in the first place.  Looking around the room again his eyes set on a dark haired man sitting at the bar.  Cell phone pressed to his ear, and obviously in some type of heated argument with who ever was on the other end.  As he watched he saw the man stagger off the stool and march off to the men’s room.  Seeing this just reminded him more that he really needed to piss.

AJ stomped off to the bathroom.  This so couldn’t be happening to him.  Sarah hadn’t wanted to come with him to the party. He understood that, but when he called her house later to have another man answer her phone he was beyond pissed.  He knew from one phone conversation his engagement was over.  He was just about to throw his cell phone across the bathroom, when somebody else walked into the room, almost smacking the man in the face.

“Yo man, what the fuck did I ever do to you.”  Exclaimed the blonde haired man.

AJ just glared at him and stomped to the other side of the bathroom.

Marshall wasn’t about to give up.  For some odd reason he was really interested in this man. Not in a romantic or sexual way, but he was just interested to see if maybe that man had a worse life then he did, and knowing this would make him feel better.  “What happened?”

AJ looked up from the sink and glared at Marshall again.  “Why the hell would I tell a perfect stranger what the heck is wrong with me?”

Marshall shrugged.  “Just thought it would help.”
“My fucking fiancé is sleeping with somebody else ok.”  Exclaimed AJ, the thought of Sarah with another man popping into his head.  “Are you married?”

“Yeah I am.”

“Would your girl ever cheat on you?”  Asked AJ, not really understanding why he was opening up to the man.

“I sure as hell hope not, but I guess it’s always possible.”

AJ nodded.  “I never thought in a million years Sarah would cheat on me. I mean she loved me I thought. But then again she probably just loved my money.”

“You’re in the entertainment business?”

AJ looked at the other man in shock.  “You don’t recognize me?”

Marshall shook his head.

“You must not follow pop music.”

Marshall laughed.  “Fuck no. I’m sorry but those little boy bands and that Brittany Spears chick.  God, I don’t even want to think about it.”

It was AJ’s turn to laugh and he walked over to the other man, holding his hand out for the other man to shake it.  “The name’s AJ McLean…member of one of the fucking boy bands.”

*****End of Flashback*****

Vanessa laughed.  “That’s it, that was how you guys first met.”

AJ laughed.  “Uh, he left out the part that we fucked each others brains out all night long. Then he left me the next morning. I never heard from him for like a year.  Through out that time we were supposed to hate each other.”
“How did you meet back up?”

“The 2000 VMA’s actually.  We met backstage. And well to make a really long story short.  I found out that he really cared about me, and that his marriage with his wife was going down the tube and was now divorced. And the rest is history.”

Vanessa could feel tears coming to her eyes.  “That is probably the most romantic story I have ever heard.”

Kevin snorted.  “The idea of Marshall and AJ fucking each other all night isn’t what I would call a romantic picture.”

Kristin slapped her husband on the arm.  “Oh you stop.”

“Ok Marshall, its your turn to ask.”  Said Nick wanting to keep the game going.

“Brian truth or dare?”

Brian thought for a moment.  “Dare.”

“Ok Brian, I want you to take off all your clothes and run around the room singing Rod Stewart’s ‘Do You Think I’m Sexy.’

Brian groaned.  But he was never the type to turn down any dare.  Slowly he stripped down to just his boxers and looked at Marshall.  “You want to see me naked Marshall?”

Marshall swallowed.  He was totally, madly in love with AJ, but the thought of Brian naked was doing things to his libido. “Yeah.”

The look in Marshall’s eyes didn’t go unnoticed by Brian as he slipped his boxers off right in front of Marshall, and slowly he began to dance around singing

“Do you like my body, do you think I’m sexy, come on girl lets get it on.”
Leighanne walked down the hallway and into the room.  “Hey guys, I wanted to say that the kids…” She stopped when she saw Brian dancing around the room in his birthday suit.  “Brian Thomas Littrell, get over here.”

Brian stopped dancing and singing and turned to see Leighanne standing in the doorway.

“Somebody’s busted.”  Said Nick laughing at the look in Brian’s face.

Brian walked over to Leighanne and she reached out to grab his ear.  With one quick motion she was pulling him out of the room.

Everybody looked at the doorway in shock. Not exactly sure what was going on. That was until they heard something.

“Oh fuck.” They heard Brian moan.

Everybody looked at each other and busted up laughing.

“Well, Brian is getting lucky tonight.”  Laughed Howie.

*****@*****
Two hours later it was becoming quite obvious that everybody was loosing interest in the game.  Kevin and Kristin had left for their room almost right after Brian left, and after Howie was betted to make Kevin cum without actually touching him.  To say the situation got messy would have been an understatement, and sure got Kevin in a mood.  That was also around the same time that AJ said his back was hurting him so him and Marshall had called it a night.  Now it was only Vanessa, Howie, Justin and Nick in the room.  But Justin and Nick weren’t paying to much attention to anything anymore. Justin had his hands down the front of Nick’s pants and Nick’s tongue was in Justin’s ear.

“Oh god I really don’t need to see this again!” Exclaimed Vanessa covering her eyes.  Seeing Nick and Justin going at once was all she could take.

“Hey guys, virgin eyes in the room.” Laughed Howie at the expression on Vanessa’s face.

Vanessa turned to look at Howie.  “Oh, and I can make it so you have to be a virgin from now on.” She said making scissor motions with her fingers right over Howie’s crotch.

Vanessa didn’t get the reaction he was expecting.  Instead Howie moaned and almost bucked his hips up to touch her hand, but she pulled away.

“You would at least be touching me there.”

Vanessa blushed.  She knew this whole no sex thing was hard on Howie, and seeing him like this was almost hard for her too.  She wanted to sleep with Howie more then anything, but the thought scared her to death.  She had heard enough horror stories of girls who finally sleep with their boyfriends and then they leave. She didn’t want that. If Howie wanted to sleep with her, at least then he would stay around.

*****@*****

Marshall and AJ laid in bed trying to get their breaths back. They had been back in their rooms for about three hours now, and knew Vanessa and Howie were back in theirs too.  They heard them laughing while opening the door about a half an hour ago.

“That was some amazing shit baby.”  Said Marshall pulling AJ closer to him.  “I’m glad you came up with the idea to fake feeling sick.”

AJ nodded, he was too interested in listening to what was happening next door. The sound of a bed hitting the wall behind them was interesting him.  “Do you hear that Marshall?”

Marshall listed for a second and a huge smile went over his face.  “D finally did it.”

AJ laughed and shook his head.  “I never thought that would happen.”
*****@*****

7:30am

Everybody was sitting around the dinning room table again, this time still not in character.  Howie and Vanessa were the last ones to join the group.

“Did you guys sleep well.” Laughed Marshall.

Vanessa groaned.  “That was when I finally got to sleep. Why didn’t you guys warn me about the whole jumping on the bed thing.”

Marshall turned Vanessa. “Huh?”

“Howie has this strange freaky fetish with jumping on Hotel room beds. He wouldn’t stop jumping on the bed until like 4am. I almost just fell asleep on the couch in the room.”  Yawned Vanessa.

AJ laughed and looked at Howie.  “I can’t believe after all these years you still do that D.  I remember I almost left the group at the beginning because I couldn’t stand sharing a room with you.”

Howie laughed.  “Hey, I learned it from my dad.  He always told me to make sure I was getting the money I paid for hotel rooms. And the way to check was to see how well the mattresses and the beds were made.

Everybody else laughed and went on to finish their breakfasts.

*****@*****

Dwaine and Veronica were the last ones to walk into the lounge that day after breakfast.

James looked at the couple strangely.  Something wasn’t right between those two. It seemed they had more of a romantic then a work relationship.  “You two are lovers.”  He gasped.

Dwaine looked around.  “You talking to me?”

“Yes I’m talking to you. And I think I know why YOU killed him.”

Dwaine snorted.  “Oh, I can’t wait to hear this.”

James ignored the sarcastic tone in the other man’s voice and turned around so he was facing everybody else.  “I think, that my brother didn’t like the fact you were seeing each other.”

Veronica gasped, and blushed when everybody turned to look at her.

James laughed.  “I think I’m on the right path with this.”

“He didn’t like it, and wanted us to leave.  But we worked it all out.  We didn’t kill anybody.”  Exclaimed Veronica almost in tears.

Dwaine glared at James and hugged Veronica.  “You are one selfish bastard James Godspeed.”

With that Dwaine and Veronica marched out of the room.

“You could very well be the killer too, James.”  Said Justina.  “You never did get along with your Marcum.  Especially after you and Bruce came out.”

Everybody in the room gasped and Scott started to laugh.

“Oh, yeah this is great.  I can just see you wanting to kill him because he didn’t approve of your relationship.  I have a feeling I’m not far off with that.”

James glared at Scott.  “You have no idea about my personal life.  You really shouldn’t be talking either.”

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?”  Exclaimed Scott getting up in his face.

James didn’t back down.  “I mean it was common knowledge that you didn’t get alone well with my brother. He talked about you behind your back all the time, and you hated it.  But what through you over the edge was the fact that he was sleeping with you’re wife.”

Scott took James by the color and shoved him up against the wall.  “You better shut your mouth, before I break all your little teeth.”

James just smiled.  “I think I hit a sore spot.”

“Come on guys, let’s break this up…”

“AAHHH”

Everybody turned his or her heads to the door.

“Not again!”  Exclaimed Thomas as everybody rushed out the door.

When they got in the hallway Dwaine was standing over Veronica’s very still body.

“You killed her!”  Yelled Thomas running to pull a very stunned Dwaine away.

Dwaine looked up with tears in his eyes, but the anger was still there.  “I did not kill anybody.  She was on her way to the kitchen when I heard her scream, and then I saw…saw her like this.”

Anne put her arm around the sad man, and looked up at her husband.  “I don’t think he killed her.”

Thomas sighed and ran his hands through his hair.  “Yeah, you’re probably right, but that still means the killer is around us.”

Everybody looked around at the rest of the people in the room.

“The only person who’s not here is Gene, but he’s locked up in the lounge with the dead bodies.”  Stated Krissy.
“Maybe he escaped.”  Yelled James running in the direction of the lounge with everybody on his tail.

“Thomas do you still have the key?”

Thomas nodded and handed the key to James.  Once the door was open he gasped.

“What?”  Asked Everybody.

James moved out of the doorway so everybody could try look in.

“What happed I cant see?”  Asked Krissy from the back by Justina.

“Oh, my God!”  Exclaimed Justina running into the room wrapping her arms around her dead stepson.  “My poor baby, who did this to you.”

Everybody looked around the room in awe.

“Four people have died this weekend, and we’re not any closer to finding out who it was.”  Sighed Scott, whipping his sweaty forehead with his shirtsleeve.

James looked at the crying woman sitting on the floor. Something didn’t seem right.  She was the last person to come out of the ballroom, which meant she would have been the last person in line when they got to the lounge.  Even Thomas who was right behind him, hadn’t seen Gene’s body lying on the floor. How had Justina known Gene was dead?

“We’ve gota figure out who did this.  The love of my life is lying dead in the hallway, because of one of you.”  Said Dwaine.

James backed up and walked out of the room.

“Where are you going?”

“I’m going to go tell you who the killer is.” He yelled back over his shoulder.

“That guy is crazy.” Mumbled Scott as they once again followed James down the hall.

James stopped at the doorway of the Kitchen.  “We all sat here for dinner correct?”

Everyone nodded.

“Once the dinner dishes were cleared off Carlton told us to go down to the lounge.”  Stated James as he ran out of the room and back down the hallway until he got to the lounge.

Everyone followed.

“Once we were all in the lounge, we all talked about why we thought we were here.”  Said James.  “Veronica and Anne also got in a fight over starch and shirts, but that’s beside the point.  It wasn’t until we heard the cook scream that we all ran out of the room.”

James again ran out of the room and down the hallway to the kitchen.

Everyone followed.

Taking a deep breath James turned around to look at everybody.  “At first sight we didn’t think anything had gone wrong here in the kitchen. It wasn’t until Mr. Richards walked on the other side of the counter did we find the cook, who was indeed dead.”

“Would you please get to the point?”  Exclaimed Thomas.

“I would be able to get to my point a lot quicker if you weren’t interrupting me.”  Said James as he again ran out of the room.

Everyone followed, James back to the lounge.

“Here in the lounge was where we found Gene hunched over Carlton’s body.  We all thought he was the killer so we locked him and the other bodies up.”

Standing back he took another deep breath.  “Who else wasn’t in the room?”

“Gene, he was the only one who wasn’t in the room.”  Said Krissy.

“Wrong!” Exclaimed James.  “Justina was also gone, remember Scott even asked her if she had been there the whole time.”

“And she said yes.” Scott reminded.

“You’re right, but I wasn’t convinced.  We just all got side tracked on what to do with Gene, that we forgot to question her further…” James stopped because it had gotten very quiet in the room in the last few seconds. “Guys?”  He asked turning around.

What he saw made his breath catch in this throat. Justina had a gun pointed at his back.

“You should have kept your mouth shut James.  You had always been too smart for your own good.”  Said Justina moving around so she was almost touching the gun to James’ head.

“Justina, you don’t really want to kill me.”

Justina laughed.  “Oh, you are wrong.  I don’t want anything more then to kill you. I killed the wrong brother the first time. You were the sneaky one.”

“Justina put your hands over your head.”

Everybody turned to look at the doorway. There was Bruce standing there with a gun, and at least five other FBI agents.

Bruce walked into the room and grabbed the gun from the shocked woman.  “This is the last time you’ll be messing around with this family.”

Everybody watched as Bruce and his crew took Justina out the door, and out of the house.

“You had a great time this weekend didn’t you.”  Said AJ, as he and Marshall drove home that night.

Marshall smiled.  “I will have to admit that was fun.  Especially when I got to come in a break everything up at the end.”

AJ laughed.  “That was something I was totally not expecting.  I can’t believe I didn’t even know my own lover was part of the FBI.”

Marshall laughed too and patted AJ’s thigh.  “Thank you for making me do that.  It was a great weekend.”

AJ smiled.  “Yeah it was, but I’m ready to just sleep in my own bed.”

“I’m sure Justin is the most happy that this is all over. Wearing those dresses all weekend must have been annoying.”

AJ giggled.  “I do have to admit he looked pretty cute though. He makes a good girl.  Which reminds me. I saw that look you gave Brian last night during truth or dare. If I didn’t know any better I would say my fiancé was lusting over one of my best friends.”

Marshall blushed and that was all the answer AJ needed.

“She is almost getting to heavy for this.”  Moaned Marshall as he carried a sleeping Hailie up the stairs.

“Denise did say she could stay over night again.”

“I know, but I wanted her home.”  Said Marshall, putting Hailie in her bed and tucking her in.

AJ sat down on the bed next to Marshall.  “She is probably one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. If our baby looks or acts anything like her, we are lucky.”

Marshall leaned in and kissed AJ lightly on the lips.  “If it’s anything like you, we will be blessed.”
