Our Reception

The Reception Site

The Reception was held at the University Center Club on the campus of Florida State University, Heidi's Alma Mater. The East Ballroom is on the right hand side of the facade in the picture. The windows to the right of the big round center window are the East Ballroom. The Location also happens to be surrounding Doak Campbell Stadium, the football stadium for the Florida State University Seminoles. The following picture shows the stadium full of 80,000 screaming fans. This was shot before the surrounding building was completely finished. The University Center Club is on the left side of the picture at the left end zone, not yet completed.

The guests began arriving at the Club directly after the Ceremony. Well, after a bit of a drive of course! We, the bride and groom, drove our sexy get way vehicle...a mini van..(!) to the reception. Before we left the ceremony site, we changed out of my ceremony shoes (which were fancy dress shoes!) into very comfy sneakers. Surprisingly, they made a HUGE hit at the Reception. After some traffic snafus we finally arrived, and made our big entrance to the FSU Fight Song. Ok, so maybe not all that original, but we couldn't decide on anything else.

We said hi to everyone, and then led the way to the Buffet table!!!. We had the following as our menu:

Seasonal Fresh Fruit Salad

Mixed Field Greens with Light Ranch, Italian, and Raspberry Vinagrette

Oven Roasted Sliced Roast Beef with Merlot Sauce

Pan Seared Breast of Chicken with Tarragon Supreme Sauce

Vegetarian Style Farfalle Pasta with Basil Vinagrette and Tri-color Tortellini with Fresh Asiago cheese

Roasted New Potatoes

Seasonal Vegatables & Fresh Baked Bread

Iced tea, water, Coffee & Decaf, and hot tea.

We ate and then got up to do our First Dance, "You Had Me From Hello" by Kenney Chesney. My Father/Daughter dance was "My Girl" by the Temptations. We continued to dance and mingle with the crowd. Then we had the cake cutting. No, we didn't smash the cake in each others faces. Neither one of us were into that at all. It was clean and civilized. Well, except that the small little piece I gave Matt was not in the same proportion as the huge chunk he gave me!! After the eating of the cake, we did some more dancing, and then the Anniversary Dance. We called all the married couples out onto the dance floor, and after a certain interval the DJ would tell people that had been married a certain ammount of time to sit down. It cleared out pretty quickly, down to Matt's former boss Ian and his lovely wife Pam, and my Aunt Norma and Uncle Harold. Well, my Aunt and Uncle "won" because they had just celebrated their 50th anniversary. So, she got my toss boquet.

After that, everyone got up to dance some more, then my Husband and I went out onto the the field. The FIELD..Bobby Bowden Field, Doak Campbell Stadium. We got some great pictures of that! When we got back from that, it was pretty much time to go. We had a great day and were so thrilled to see everyone, and know that they took time out to spend such an important day with us. Thanks so much! Heidi and Matt
