Spotted Paropsine Beetle - Paropsis maculata

The Spotted Paropsine Beetles are sometimes found on young Eucalyptus tree in Brisbane forest from late spring to summer. They have golden yellow patterns on brown colour.

Sometimes we can find a lot of them on a small Eucalyptus tree.

Look at the damages that they made on the young gum tree.

When they feel the dangers, they hide all their legs and antenna under their harden thorax and wing-covers. After a while, it may use their antenna to sense if the dangers are still there.

Leaf Beetles lay eggs on leaves or stems. The larvae hatch and feed on the leave. When fully grown, they drop onto the soil and pupate.

Not far away from the adult leaf beetles, we found those leaf beetle larvae. We believe they are the young of this leaf beetles.
