Chapter 2
*The Next Morning*

Nick walked up to the front door of the house that he and Jen shared. He hoped that she wasn't mad at him anymore, he wanted to be with her. That other girl wasn't anything, just something he 'played' with from time to time.
As Nick walked into the house, he looked around and saw that Jen wasn't up yet. He wasn't even sure if she was there. Nick knew that he messed up, but he also knew that Jen loved him and would probably forgive him in a heart beat. He decided to look upstairs to see if she was still sleeping. When Nick opened the door, he saw Jen in bed with AJ.
"What the hell," Nick yelled waking them up.
"What are you doing here?" Jen asked.
"I live here! What is he doing here?" he yelled.
"Does it really matter Nick. We're over."
           "No we're not," Nick said.
"Yes Nick we are. Our relationship ended when I saw you with that other girl."
           "What about Anthony?"
"What about him? I can take care of him. I don't need you. It's not like you were ever around anyway."
"Fine, alright then, have it your way you're not worth the fight your putting up anyway," he said storming out of the room.
           "I should go," AJ said.
"You don't have to," Jen said hoping he would stay.
           "I'll be back later okay?"
"Alright," she said as she watched him get ready to leave.
"Talk to you later," he said and kissed her cheek.
"Okay, bye," she said as she watched him walk out of the room. Jen sighed after she heard his car pull put of the driveway. Her life had gotten really confussing lately. It was hard for her to believe that Nick had cheated on her, and already she had replaced him.

*Later That Day*

"Thanks again for watching Anthony mom," Jen said holding her son a little tigher than usual.
"No problem, and I'm sorry about you and Nick, I hope things get better," her mother said. She never liked Nick anyway, she had always thought that Nick looked to 'nice' for his own good. She was right, despite his celebrity status, he got mixed up in things that he knew could end his career. He didn't care at all.
You name it, he probably did it. It was sad actually because he was a really great guys before all that. His fame really changed him. He thought that he could get anyone of anything that he wanted. Jen just wished that he would have taken control of his life when he had the chance to.
"Alright mom, I should get going," Jen said turning to leave her mothers house.
"Ok dear, I'll talk to you later," her mother smiled. Jen walked out to the car and put Anthony in the car seat and walked around to the otherside of the car and jumped in and started the car. She sighed as she drove off. Anthony made baby sounds in the backseat, Jen smiled. She was happy that her son was happy and well.
When Jen pulled into the driveway, she saw AJ's car and AJ sitting on the pourch waiting for her. She smiled as she went to the back to get Anthony out of the car. AJ walked over to her and put his hand on her shoulder.
            "Hey," he said and smiled.
"Hey there," she said getting Anthony out of the car seat and turned to AJ and smiled at him.
"So, what did you want to do today?" AJ asked looking at Jen while she stood there holding Anthony.
"Well, it doesn't matter what I want to do, I have this little one back and that means I can't do anything."
"Why don't you just leave him with Nick?"
"First of all, I don't know where Nick is, and second, he doesn't know a damn thing about taking care of a baby. It's not like he did anything to help me out."
"Then you two shouldn't have had a baby."
"You think I don't know that? It's not like we planned this. He just came along, but that doesn't mean I don't love him," she said kissing Anthonys head.
"Well, I think you're gonna be a great mother."
"I hope so. I just wish he had a different daddy."
"I don't blame you. Nick isn't the best guy to have to rely on, though I think you've already figured that out."
"Yeah," Jen said walking to her house, "I did. I just wish he was a better father."
"He never will be. Nick just doesn't care. You need someone thats going to be there for you, and Anthony."
"Oh really, and who did you have in mind?" Jen smiled.
"I was talkin about myself babe. You know that," AJ smiled at Jen, he knew that she was just playing with him.
            "Yourself? Well, isn't that a bit self-centered?"
"Not really, just thinking about you."
            "About me huh?"
"Yeah, your the single mother, and I'm the good guy that wants to help a friend in need. Look, seriously, I like you. I think we could have something. Please, lets give this a try."
"Alright," she said smiling at him, "I think we might have something. I really like you, and I would like to see if we could make this work."
"Great," he said and kissed her cheek.
"Thank you for being there last night," she said opening the door of her house. AJ looked at her, and smiled.
"So when do you think we could go out?"
"I don't know AJ. I have a son to take care of. You know that. Maybe you could stick around, we could hang out now."
"Alright, I think that would be a nice idea," he smiled.
"Great," she smiled at him as he walked inside the house with her.
"I'm going to go put Anthony upstairs for his nap, I'll be right back okay?" Jen said.
"Sure, I'll be here," AJ said and smiled. Jen smiled back at him and headed up stairs to put Anthony down for his nap. Jen wasn't completely sure that she should be starting something with AJ so quickly after her and Nick broke up. Yet, she knew that she couldn't sit around and cry about what happened and she knew that AJ would be there when she needed to talk to him, so that would really help her.
As Jen put Anthony in his pajama's she thought of his future for the first time. He wasn't going to have his father around for him. Jen knew that Nick wasn't going to stick around, he wasn't going to take any responsibility for him. Nick wasn't like that and Jen knew it. After she put Anthony in his crib she headed downstairs where AJ was waiting.
             "Thanks for waiting," Jen said.
             "No problem."
"I was just thinking about Anthony. He's never gonna know his father. That's not how I want him to grow up."
"I know what thats like, but as long as he has good male roll models in his life, he'll be alright. And as long as you stand strong, everything will be alright."
"What if I can't stand strong? What's going to happen then? I don't want him to get the wrong idea."
"Look, I think that you are going to be a great job with him, and I'll be there for you, for him. I know thats a lot to promise, but I would hate to see you have to struggle. None of this is your fault, there was no way that you could have known that this was how things were gonna go."
"AJ, I don't want you to take on some other mans kid.."
"Jen look, I know Nick, you're better off having me around for this kid then Nick. I'm not saying that he has to call me 'daddy' or anything, I just wanna be uncle AJ I guess."
"Do you mean that? Or are you just saying that? And I want you to know that if this doesn't work out, I still want you to be around, at least for him, so that he doesn't have to grow up without someone to look up to."
"I mean that, and I understand how you feel, and I promise that I will always be around for him."
"Thank you," she said and smiled at his amazing kindness. She didn't think that anyone, no matter how good of friend, would stay with her, care about her.
"No problem," he said and leaned in and kissed her again. She was surprised about his suddeness, but she welcomed it, because it made her feel safe, secure, it wasn't like it was with Nick. When it was forceful and all about him. She liked AJs way, of caring, and some what loving.
