Chapter 2 ~*~*~*~2 days later*~*~*~*~* "Well, here we are," Nicoles mother said as they pulled in front of their new house. Nicole looked at it, it just didn't feel like home to her. She missed her life already, she wanted to go back, but she couldn't her mother would never go back no matter how badly Nicole wanted to go back. "Yeah," Nicole said as she got out of the car, "I want to go back," she just suddenly said. "Nicole we can't and you can complain as much as you want to, but we aren't going back," her mother said looking at her then headed towards the house. "Wanna take a look inside?" "No," Nicole said. "You're going to have to go inside sometime." "Yeah I know, but I just want to sit out here and think." "Ok," her mother said. Nicole walked over to the edge of the driveway and sat down. She sighed, she wanted to go back to New York, this place was never going to feel like home to her, and she knew it. Just as Nicole thought that she was never going to get over this a couple of guys were walking towards the house next to hers. "Hi!" one of them said. "Hi," Nicole said a little bit bitterly. "I'm AJ," the guy said. "Nicole," she said. "Whats wrong?" he asked. "I just moved here and I want to go home." "Moved? From where?" "The Bronx." "Cool. By the way, these guys are Nick, Brian, Kevin and Howie." "Hi.." she said forcing a smile, something she had been doing a lot lately. "Don't be bummed about moving here, you would probably like it here once you get settled in," Brian said. "How can I not be bummed? I've never moved before. I always lived in the same house, went to the same school, had the same friends, this is a little bit hard for me, and oh, on top of that I found out that I was adopted, I think I have a reason to be bummed," she said. "Adopted?" Nick said. "Yeah, apperently my mother didn't want me," she couldn't believe that she had just said that, she was just probably just blowing off some steam that the move had caused. "Don't say that," Brian said, "she could have been going through a rough time and just couldn't have a baby around." "Yeah, I know. I'm not usually like this. Its just the move, I had to give up a lot to come here. If I seem bitter, ignore it," she laughed. "I was planning on doing just that," AJ said. "Oh now I feel special," Nicole said and shook her head. "You're going to like it here," Brian said, "just give it time. I haven't been here terribly long myself. I'm just getting used to it so atleast you're not alone." "Yeah, I guess," Nicole said trying to be optimistic, "I just wish I had another few days to say good-bye you know?" "Yeah. I know the feeling," Brian said. "But oh well. Can't go back now can I?" Nicole said sighing. "Not now, but maybe one day," AJ said. "My mom says that we'll go back and visit, but that won't happen. Yeah, we'll go back once or twice, but then we'll just stop one day. I know, no matter how much I don't want that to happen, it will," Nicole said. "How old are you by the way?" Brian said. "Just turned 13," she said. "Like Nick over there," AJ said, "So you'll be starting school here soon huh?" "Thats what kids traditonially do," she said and smiled. "Haha," AJ said scarsticly. "I think you two will get along great," Brian joked. "I got to get going," Howie said, "Nicole, have fun here!!! Don't worry about it, you'll do fine. C-ya guys." "Bye," Brian said, "and maybe we should get going too," he said to Kevin. "Yeah, ok bye guys," Kevin said and him and Brian took off. "Well, now what?" Nicole said. "Who knows?" AJ said absentmindedly, "We'll I'll see you guys." "Bye," Nick said. "Welcome to Florida Nicole, don't be bitter next time I see you!" AJ said. "I'll save all my bitterness for you!" she said and smiled. "Bye," he said and shook his head. "Don't talk much do you?" Nicole said to Nick once AJ was long gone. "Not really," he answered "Why not?" "I don't know, I guess its just because I don't have anything to say." "Well, I'm about to change all that," Nicole said and smiled at him, but little did she know, she was making him really nervious. Something about her made him a little uncomfortable, it might have been the fact that she wasn't shy and said what she thought, he could just tell that she was that kind of person by just talking to her. "What if I said I was happy like this?" "You like not being listened to when you do have something to say? Trust me, I know it gets like that. I had a friend who was really quiet. She never said much, but when she did have something to say, no one listened, they figured that it was nothing." Nick looked at her, she was right, at times he did get ignored. Most of the time actually. He couldn't believe how much she knew about that. "No I don't like it when people don't listen to me." "Yeah I figured." "How did you know that things were like that?" "I told you, I had a friend like that, but I am the type of person that listens to what people have to say." "So, now what?" Nick asked. "I don't know, your call." "What?" Nick said a little shocked. Nicole smiled at him and shook her head. She thought about what to say, but couldn't come up with anything. "Look that this, I don't know what to say, better mark this on your calender cause its gonna be a while before it happens again." Nick laughed at Nicoles comment. "I take it you like to talk then." "Yeah, I can't help it sometimes." ~*~*~*~ Twenty minutes later*~*~*~*~ Nick didn't know what is was, but there was something about Nicole that interested him. He couldn't decide weather it was the fact that she was being really nice to him, in school he was picked on, or the fact that he thought that she was beautiful. To Nick, she was the most beautiful girl that he had ever seen, not just because she had a pretty face but because she was a good person. "I got to get going," Nick said laughing at what Nicole had just said, "I'll be next door if you want to hang out again." "Ok cool." Chapter 3 |
