- 2 months later -
Meagan's dad quit going through rehab and is back at home doing nothing once again. Meagan sat on her bed and started to cry. She couldn’t help herself. She wishes things could be better. She loves living with the Carter Family. Everyone has been nice and kind and nothing bad has gone wrong since she has been there for 2 months. There was a knock at the door. Meagan quickly whipped away her tears.
"Come in." the door opened to a tall blonde blue eyed boy.
"My mom wanted me to come up and introduce myself. I am Nick" Meagan got up from the bed and shook his hand.
"Hi.. I am Meagan.. if she already didn’t tell you that." Meagan smiled.
"She told me. So how do you like it here so far?" Nick asked moving towards the window.
"It's so much better than what I was living in." Meagan sighed.
"What was it like?" Nick wanted to know what she was living like.
"Well my dad was an alcoholic. He went through some treatment 2 months ago when I first arrived her, but I heard he quit 2 weeks after he admitted himself."
"What about your mom? Why can't you live with her?" Meagan gave Nick a sad look.
"She left me with my dad. The day I came here. I haven't heard from her since." Meagan developed tears, but they never feel from her face. Nick walked over and gave her a hug.
"Do you think she will ever come back?"
"Probably not. I don’t mind living here. Everyone is loved and everyone is cared for in there own way. I love being here." Nick smiled.
"Well that’s good that you like it here."
"Me too!"
"Well I gotta go unpack. Your welcome to come and talk to me anytime." Nick said walking towards the door.
"Yea BJ told me something like that 2 months ago."
"Well I'll see ya around." Nick walked out of the room. Meagan walked over to her stereo and turned on the radio. As she flipped through the stations the door opened and it was Nick again.
"I want you to come downstairs and meet the guys."
"Okay!" Meagan turned off the radio and walked downstairs with Nick. When she got out into the living room. She glanced around the room and she focused on one particular guy. She didn’t know his name. But she was totally amazed by him. He was kind of short around 5'7" or 5'8" blonde hair, couldn’t tell what color his eyes were, but she assumed they were beautiful. He looked very muscular she thought he was hot.
"Hey guys this is Meagan. The one who is living with us." Meagan smiled.
"It's nice to meet all of you." she said.
"This is Kevin he's the oldest at 26,Howie is the second oldest at 24, Brian here is 22, AJ he's a real party boy is 19 and I am the youngest at 17." Meagan shook each of their hands, but Nick's of course. Everyone went and sat down in the living room. Brian noticed Meagan looking at him. He thought she was hot, but he didn’t want to get too "involved" with her, because Nick being his best friend and Meagan mainly being his little sister in all he didn’t want to risk losing their friendship over it.
"How old are you?" Brian asked.
"15" she replied. Nick looked at Brian and shook his head no. Brian saw, but he didn’t pay attention to it. Meagan knew now Brian was TOO old for her after Nick said he was 22. She was hoping for 18 maybe even 19, but 22? She couldn’t even imagine it. " Brian can you come over here please!" Nick said. Brian got up from his seat and followed Nick into the family room.
"What's that all about?" Nick asked.
"What was what all about?" Brian pretended like nothing happened out there.
"I saw you looking at her. And asking her age? Oh come on! You knew how old she was"
"Hey! She was looking at me first when y'all came down the stairs." Brian explained.
"She's 15! What do you expect? You are 22 and you are not. I repeat you are NOT going to go out with her." Nick wasn’t too happy with the thought of Brian going out with Meagan. She was only 15 for god sakes.
"Okay Nick. I wasn’t going to anyway. You are like my best friend. And plus Meagan is like your little sister now it'd be weird."
"It's not the fact that it would be weird, but remember we are popular now and every girl is going to be saying you are hot and what not and they could be younger that 15… maybe 12! So that’s what I am sayin', " Nick thought he explained himself clear and well.
"Yes I get it." Brian and Nick walked back out into the living room.
"What was that all about?" Kevin asked.
"Brian was trying to get with Meagan, but I talking to him and told him not to." Kevin shook his head and looked at Brian. Brian knew that his older cousin was going to have a nice chat with him later on in the night.
"How about we eat some dinner?" Jane suggested.
"Sounds good mom." Nick said. Everyone got up from their seats and walked into the kitchen. Meagan sat down at the table and waited for the line to go down.
"Meagan you can come in front of me." Nick said.
"No, that’s okay. I can wait."
"Come on." Nick grabbed her arm and he put her in front of him. " You didn’t have to do that." she kind of gave Nick a glare.
"But see by the time everyone is done getting what they want.. there won't be anymore. Especially after I am done." Nick laughed.
"He's right Meagan." AJ said.
"Shut up AJ. You weren't supposed to agree."
"It's the truth though." Kevin said turning around. Meagan laughed as she picked up her plate and went on down the line of food.
- After Dinner -
"I'm stuffed." Brian joked as he patted her stomach. Nick laughed.
"I'd be quiet if I were you." Brian warned.
"Why? You had like 4 plates."
"So? You had 3."
"No, I had 2. Tell him I had 2 Meagan." Meagan nodded her head.
"See told you so!"
"Nicky is such a whiney boy." Howie said.
"I wouldn’t be surprised." Meagan said.
"Well guys we better get going." Kevin said getting up.
"Yea, you're right. Thanks for dinner mom." Brian laughed.
"Your welcome Brian. See you all later guys." Jane waved from the kitchen.
"It was really nice meeting you Meagan. Maybe you can come on tour with us." Howie said.
"That would be cool." Meagan nodded and gave them all a hug good-bye. Meagan grabbed her plate and went into the kitchen and helped Jane with the dishes.
"You don’t have to do that." Nick said.
"She's been helping me for the past 2 months. Her first day here she did them all." Jane said.
"Oh well in that case I'll go up to my room." Nick walked out of the room and into his room upstairs.
"So what do you think of the guys so far?" Jane asked.
"They're nice. Brian is a major cutie." Meagan smiled.
"He is too old for you." Jane stated. Meagan sighed.
"I know." Meagan put a pout face on.
"Well sometimes you just have to deal with that kind of thing" Meagan sighed again. Nick soon came back into the kitchen.
"Meagan can I talk to you?"
"Go ahead." Jane nodded her head. Meagan walked off with Nick.
"Let's go into my room." Nick suggested. They walked into his room. He shut the door.
"What's up?"
"Well I wanted to tell you about what happened earlier with Brian." he said.
"Nick if you are trying to apologize or what ever Brian must have done you don’t need too."
"I wasn’t going to apologize. As you know he is 22 and you are only 15. He simply was trying to ask you out. I guess and I told him tha6 he couldn’t because first it's illegal and also you're a sister to me now. I really hope you understand." Nick explained.
"I perfectly understand. I think Brian is hot when I found out her was 22 I wasn’t even going to bother." she said.
"Well in that case that’s good." he smiled.
"Is that all you wanted?" she asked.
"Wait! Here's a copy of our CD released here in the US. Sorry we couldn’t sing you any of it, but I am sure you will get it in the years to come." Nick said handing her the CD.
"Thanks!"
"Well I am going to turn in for the night. So I'll see you in the morning." Meagan smiled and walked out of Nick's room and into hers.
"It's only 9 o'clock? " she said looking at her clock. She walked to her CD player and put the CD on. She put in the headphones so know one would be able to hear the loud music. She skipped through songs and came across a song. As she listened she thought of Brian. She looked at the back of the CD case to see what she was listening to.
"Set Adrift On Memory Bliss." she said.
"As I gaze through the hourglass. Days go and all I so this think of you. And wonder where you are at night"
Even though Brian was 22 and she was 15 going on 16 she wanted to be with Brian really bad. Just one night would mean a lot to her. She turned off the CD got into her pajamas and went to sleep.
