Chapter 16

AJ laid on the bed and stared at the celing. He couldn't believe that all this had happened and he knew that it was going to take a long time for them to recover emotionally. AJ wasn't sure why he had blamed the guys. It might have been easier to deal with having placed the blame on someone other than himself. That was still no excuse.

He figured that it would be better if he apologised to the guys for what he said. There was a lot going wrong with everything already and this only added to all the problems and the anger. What the hell had happened to him these past couple of months? AJ wasn't dealing with things how he used to. He was just snapping at everyone for every little thing. He just hoped that Jen was alright in the hospital. All of this had to be having an impact on her by now.

Now that the baby was gone, AJ began to realize just how much he had really wanted this baby. At first he was a little nervious and unsure of feelings towards having a baby, but now that he was so close to having it, he realized what his life was missing, a family of his own.

He smiled at thoughts of what it would have been like if he had a son. All the things they would have done together. He would have taught him how to play basketball and they would hang out together. Of course he wouldn't mind having a girl either. She would have been his little angel, his baby girl.

A slight laugh escaped him as he completed his thoughts. He was never big on any of this, but being so close to it made him reconsider everything. He had spent the whole night thinking about what he was going to say to Jen, but no matter how hard he thought, he couldn't come up with anything.

The time to get Jen was rapidly approaching. AJ couldn't help but wonder what Jen had thought about while she was alone with no one to talk to. There were so many things that had to be on her mind. He knew that she was going through a tough time and he hoped that Jen didn't want to end it with him because he really cared about her.

AJ looked over at the clock abd decided that he may as well begin to head over to the hospital to get Jen. He got up from the bed and slowly began to walk down the stairs. When he got outside, he just stoped and looked around. The world seemed different to him now, like he had never looked at it before or maybe never completely appreciated it.

When AJ got into the car and started it, he wasn't sure how to feel. The more he thought about it, the more he realized just how much pain Jen had to be going through. He realized that he should hurry up and be there for her.

When he reached the hospital, he went straight to Jens room. He smiled when he saw Jen standing at the window looking out.

"Jen," AJ said quietly.

"Hi AJ," Jen said forcing a smile. She had just been crying and she made no attempt to hide it.

"You alright?"

"Yeah, I just can't believe that I lost the baby. I wanted us to have a baby. It meant a lot to me."

"I know, I wanted it too, but it's gone. We just have to move on. You have Anthony and I'll be there for you."

"Does my mom still have Anthony?" Jen asked.

"Yeah, we can go get him now if you want to," AJ told her.

"Can we? I just want my baby," Jen said trying to hold back even more tears.

"Yeah, let's go." AJ and Jen went out to the car and AJ sighed as his cell phone rang.

"Hello?"

"AJ, it's Brian. Nick was in an accident last night," Brian said quickly.

"What? He was?" AJ asked.

"Yeah, we're at the hospital right now. Come by and see us when you come to get Jen," Brian asked.

"Acutally, we we're just leaving," AJ said, striking Jens attention.

"You're here?"

"Yeah, I'm in the parking lot. I was just about to take off."

"Well come up here!"
"Why should I? Do you know what he me through Brian?"

"Come on AJ, don't be like that."

"Don't be like what? He's the reason that I'm here! Do you expect me to be sympathedic? I don't think so."

"What happened?" Jen asked.

"Come on, this is serious. He's hurt really bad, the doctors think he might slip into a coma. I understand why you're mad, but just come up here."

"Hold on, let me talk to Jen," AJ said holding down the phone, "Nick was in an accident last night, he's hurt pretty bad. Do you want to go up there?"

"Damn it AJ, I just want to go home, and besides, he's not worth my time," Jen said.

"Alright," AJ said lifting up the phone, "Bri we're going to take off. Like you said, you can understand why we aren't coming up."

"Yeah, I guess," Brian said giving up on trying to get AJ to come up.

"Bye."

"Bye," Brian said hanging up.

"Is he coming?" Howie asked.

"No, he's still pissed about what happened, which I completely understand," Brian answered.

"But he could be dying," Kevin said.

"I think that's what AJ wants right about now."
