Jen sighed as she began to unbukle Anthony from his car seat. When she got him out, she walked into the front door. Jen smiled when she saw AJ sitting on the couch.
"Hey Jen, I want to talk to you," AJ said seriously.
"Alright, just let me put Anthony to bed," Jen said a little nervious. She had no clue what AJ wanted to talk to her about, but whatever it was, she knew it was serious. Her mind wandered so she began to put Anthony to bed.
AJ sighed, getting a little bit more nervious with each passing second. After Brian had left, he knew what he had to do to be happy. He slipped his hand into his pocket and touched the box inside of it. AJ slipped his hand out of his pocket and he began to think if this was the right thing to do.
"AJ," Jen said softly and sweetly as an attempted disguse for her overwhelming fear.
"Yeah," AJ said and then took a deep breath, "I, uh, wanted to talk to you."
"Yeah you did."
"Well, um, I just wanted to say that, I uh, well um," AJ said and let out a soft laugh and then took a deep breath and closed his eyes, "I love you."
"I love you too," Jen said with her nerviousness turning to overwhelming joy.
"That's not it," AJ said getting up from the couch and walked over to Jen.
"It's not?" she said softly.
"No, it's only just begun," he replied, getting down on one knee.
"Oh my god," Jen said quickly.
"I love you. I never thought that I would get married, or propose, this young, but being with you made me change my mind. Everything with Nick is over and we're beginning. I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. So please will you marry me?"
"AJ oh my god," Jen said stunned.
"So, will you?" AJ asked again.
"Yes, I will," Jen said as she watched AJ pull the ring box out of his pocket and opened it to reveal a beautiful ring which AJ then slipped on to her finger.
"I love you," he said and hugged her tightly. Jen felt a tear form as AJ held her.
"I love you too. I just can't believe that all of this is happening. It's amazing."
"Believe it. I love you and I love Anthony and I want to be there for you guys."
"You're amazing," Jen said pulling away from him, "I gotta make some calls!"
"Alright," AJ said and laughed as she ran into the kitchen to call everyone that she knew. He was glad that she was happy about this. He sighed and picked up his cell phone and called Brian.
"Hello?" Brian asnwered
"Bri, it's AJ."
"Hey AJ, how's it going?"
"I told her."
"That's the great. How'd it go over?"
"Amazing, I asked her to marry me."
"You did what?" Brian yelled.
"I asked her to marry me and she said yes," AJ repeated.
"I told you to be honest to her and tell her that you love her and not to ask her to marry you! What were you thinking?"
"Now you're saying that I'm doing the wrong thing? I want to be with Jen so I kniw I'm doing the right thing," AJ explained.
"Do you think you guys are ready for marriage? It's a huge step to take."
"A step worth taking."
"Is that what you both think? You can't both be happy if only one of you really wants this."
"Jen wants to get married. We'll both be happy."
"Are you sure about that? I mean maybe both of you guys are doing this for the wrong reasons."
"What does that mean?"
"It means, maybe you only want to marry Jen because you think it's the right thing to do and Jen might be marring you because she wants Anthony to have a father other than Nick."
"She wouldn't do that."
"How do you know that?"
"I just know."
"Alright, just don't rush into anything," he warned.
"I won't," AJ answered and hung up the phone, "Jen, lets go," he yelled.
"Go where?" Jen asked walking into the living room moments later.
"Get married."
"What? What about Anthony?"
"We can drop him off at your mothers."
"Really? You mean we can get married now?"
"Yeah."
"Oh my god, I'll be right back," Jen yelled and ran up the stairs.
