*Meanwhile*
Nicole sat back on the couch in the living room. It had been a week since Josh asked her to marry him and she said yes. She wasn't sure of it, but she might be having second thoughts. She wasn't sure if she was doing the right thing. Maybe she would have a clearer mind if she talked to Nick about it, but then again, he was just confussing her. He wanted her to give up Josh for him, which part of her wanted to do, but the other wanted her to stay with Josh and she what life was like with him. Josh had taken on the responsiblity of Steven even though he was another mans baby.
Steven came walking up to Nicole. She looked at him and smiled, her baby was so sweet and innocent. He didn't know anything about what was going on, he was too young to understand. He had began to ask her why Nick hasn't been around and it broke her heart because she didn't know what to say and she didn't want to lie. She had talked to Josh to try to come up with away to explain this to Steven so that he would understand but they were unable to come up with anything.
"What wrong mama?" Steven asked climbing on the couch.
"Nothing baby," Nicole smiled as she watched Steven get on to the couch next to her.
"Mama, why don't dada want me?" he asked looking at Nicole with his soft blue eyes that he undoubtly got from Nick.
"Look honey," she said sitting him on her lap, "it's not that dada doesn't want you. I'm sure he would love you if he was here. Me and him just aren't together anymore."
"Why mama?"
"Because I had to move, I used to live in Florida. We were together when I lived there, but when I came back here to New York me and him stopped seeing each other."
"Why?"
"Because New York and Florida is far apart. It wouldn't have been easy."
"Otay mama. Is Josh gonna be my dada?"
"He wants to be."
"Nicole..." her mother said walking into the living room.
"Yeah?" she said.
"Josh is here," she said.
"Really? I didn't even hear the door," her mother smiled and Josh walked in from behind her mother.
"Hey baby," he said.
"Hi," she said and smiled. He came over and kissed her cheek.
"JOSH!!!" Steven yelled, happy to see him.
"Hey little man!! How've ya been?" he said and took Steven from Nicoles lap. Steven started giggling as Josh lifted him high.
"Becareful with him. I don't want you to hurt him," Nicole said to Josh.
"Don't worry I won't."
"So what day did you get the church for?" Nicole asked.
"Two weeks from tommrrow," he said putting Steven down.
"That soon?"
"I thought we agreed that we wanted the wedding to be soon?" he asked confuessed with Nicoles sudden nervousness.
"Yeah, I know. I'm just surprised that you got it so soon."
"I thought you would be. I just want to start our life together as soon as possible because I love you," he smiled at her.
"Alright, I guess I'll call Kel and tell her to be there then and you can invite your friends and family, Kel is the only friend I have so it won't take me long to tell her to come."
"Okay," he said, "well I am going to go home and finish everything that I have to and I'll give you a call when I'm through ok?"
"Sure," she said and forced a smile, for some reason this didn't feel right. It was probably just the fact that she was really nervous. She had never gotten married before, she had been proposed to by Nick, but she didn't marry him. Now she regreted that she had told him no. That was in the past, her future was with Josh.
"I'll talk to you later then," Josh said and walked out. Nicole sighed, maybe she should call Nick and ask him to come. Maybe if he as there, she would feel a little better. If they were friends, maybe this wouldn't feel so wrong to her.
She got up and headed to her room. Nicole was nervous. She already knew that he still wanted to be with her and that hurt her because she wanted to with him too, but she had to move on, she knew she had to because it was a kid thing, it was childish, at least that was the excuse she used to fool herself. Deep down in her heart she knew that Nick was the only one for her, but she couldn't admit that now. When she reached her room, she picked up the phone and dialed Nicks number.
"Hello," came a saddened voice, Nicks.
"Hi Nick," she said.
"Hi Nicole," he said, he knew why she was calling. She had a date for the wedding and she called to tell him. He didn't want to know because that day in his mind would be the worst day in his life.
"Me and Josh have a date," she said in a soft voice.
"I thought that was why you called. Are you sure this is what you really want?" Nick asked hoping that maybe she had some doubts.
"It's two weeks from tommrrow."
"You didn't answer me, are you sure you want to do this?" he asked again.
"Yes, Nick. I am. This is the right thing to do," she said trying to hold back the fact that she was really hurt by all this.
"Ok, I was just making sure because I am still your friend and you can trust me. I want to know that you trust me and that you can tell me anything."
"I know that Nick."
"As long as you know," he said taking a deep breath, "Do you mind if I come to your wedding do you?"
"Nick, I would love it if you came," she said, he was finally accepting the fact that she was moving on, she was happy.
"Alright," he said, "I'll guess I'll be seeing you in two weeks."
"Yeah, I can't wait," she said.
"Me either because I miss looking at you," he said slightly excited by the fact that he was going to be able to see her again.
"I'll see you then, bye," Nicole said.
"Bye," he said and hung up the phone. He closed his eyes to hold back the tears that were forming. He was about to lose her forever. This was too much for him. Why did he agree to go? He didn't want to watch her marry some one else. Maybe he would just go to see what this guy was like, maybe then he would be able to accept it. If he saw that this was guy was a good guy then he wouldn't be as angry about it.
That's what he was going to do. If this guy wasn't good enough for her, he would tell her about it. Unfortuniately, he didn't really think that this guys was going to be all bad, after all, Nicole liked him. Hopefully she wouldn't forget about him after she got married.
