Kyndall woke up the next morning in an unfamiliar place, completely disoriented. Sitting up quickly, she looked around. Wiping the sleep from her eyes, she smiled remembering where she was. Glancing to the empty spot next to her, a look of worry crossed her face. Closing her eyes tightly, she sent up a silent prayer that AJ would keep his promise. When she opened her eyes, she spotted a folded piece of paper sitting next to the clock. Her name was scrawled on the front of it. Leaning over, she picked it up, opening it.
Dearest Kyndall,
Kyndall smiled softly, laying back down and clutching the note to her chest. Rolling over, she pulled his pillow next to her face, inhaling deeply. Tears sprang to her eyes as the memories from the previous night flooded her mind. She never thought she'd be as happy as she was right at this moment. Everything in her life was finally right. Almost, she thought. What about Howie? Sighing, Kyndall got out of bed. Getting dressed, she gathered her things and headed towards hers and Catlyn's room.
You looked so beautiful and peaceful lying there smiling softly lost in your dreams. I couldn't bear to wake you up. I had to go to rehearsal this morning. We'll be here until around noon and then I think we have some interview thing right after. I guess I'll have to wait until the show to see you. I miss you already and I haven't even left yet. I love you my darling angel.
Forever, AJ
"What?" Catlyn asked digging through a pile of papers she had stacked on her bed. "No. That isn't what I have marked. You said black with green and blue. Not purple with blue and red." Shaking her head, she sighed. "Fine. Although my original copy of your order form says black, green , and blue." Tossing the paper on the bed, she rubbed her forehead in annoyance. "No. It's not a problem. I'll have it done tomorrow." Hanging up the phone, she closed her eyes. "Fuck I hate people," she grumbled. "It's too early in the morning for this." Snapping her laptop shut, she slipped on some sandals and walked to the door to leave. Stepping back just in time to avoid being slammed by Kyndall, she smiled. "Hey Kyn."
"Uhh, hi," Kyndall smiled sheepishly.
"Not gonna ask. I just hope it was worth it," Catlyn said softly. "Wanna go get breakfast with me?"
"Since when do you eat breakfast?" Kyndall asked.
"Okay so I'm just going to get something to drink," Catlyn grinned.
"Sure. Let me change though."
"Okie," Catlyn smiled. She walked over to answer the phone as it started ringing. "Hello?"
"Cat? AJ. Is Kyndall there?"
"Yeah. Hold on a sec," Catlyn said handing the receiver to Kyndall. "It's AJ."
Kyndall smiled. "Hello?"
"Hey beautiful. Sorry I had to run out on you this morning," he apologized.
"It's okay. You have work to do. Thought you weren't done until 12. It's only 10," she said glancing at the clock.
"Snuck off for a few minutes. Wanted to hear your voice. I miss you so much."
Kyndall laughed softly. "You're crazy. Get back to work. I don't want you getting in trouble because of me."
"I love you baby," he whispered, blowing her a kiss.
"I love you, too," she replied hanging up the phone. Looking at Catlyn who was watching her curiously, she sighed. "Long story. Let's talk over breakfast. I'm starved."
"And so she fucking pushed me away and kicked me out," Nick sighed.
"She's scared of something Nick. I wouldn't take it personally," Brian said, patting his friend on the back.
"Don't take it personally? Hello. I basically threw myself at her. I feel like a complete ass right now."
"Isn't that a normal feeling for you?" Brian teased. His smile faded as Nick glared at him. "Look, I don't know what to tell you buddy. She obviously has issues with the whole relationship thing. Perhaps you're better off just laying off. Move on. There are plenty of chicks out there willing to fall in love with you."
"Thanks Rok. But I don't want just any chick," Nick said dejectedly. "Why can't I find the ONE. Ya know, like you and Leighanne."
Brian shrugged. "Things like me and Leighanne are rare, my boy. You don't know how many nights I wake up thanking God for blessing me with her. Sometimes I don't think I deserve her." Shaking his head. "Someday Nick, you're gonna find the one for you. Just don't give up."
"Okay ya'll," Kevin shouted from the stage. "Back to work," he said clapping his hands.
"Sometimes, I wanna shove a dirty sock in his mouth," Nick grumbled standing up. Brian started laughing. Nick looked at him. "Just wait. One day, when he's sleeping all nice and snuggly in his warm bed, I'm gonna shove a nasty smelly one in his mouth. We'll see how bossy he is after that." Brian shook his head, chuckling as they walked back to the stage.
