PROLOGUE

"I just can't do this anymore," Kyndall said, her voice breaking.

"I know sweetie. I know. I wouldn't worry about it though. One day, ya'll will be together," Catlyn said sympathetically.

"Yeah right," Kyndall sighed. "He has Miranda. Why would he look twice at me?"

"He wouldn't have to look twice. Once and he'd be hooked for forever."

Kyndall sighed again, wiping the tears off her cheeks. "Cat, sorry, but it's not working. I'm giving up on him. No more. I can't sleep. I don't eat. I rarely talk to anyone, and when I do, he of course is the topic of every discussion. It's insane. I'm driving myself crazy over someone I will never in a million years MEET let alone have a chance at BEING with."

Catlyn shook her head sadly, wishing desperately that she could do something to help her friend. "Well, you do what you have to sweetie."

"Thanks," Kyndall mumbled glumly. "Do you realize that I had the chance to go out with this really hot guy from the office?"

"Oh really? What'd he look like?" Catlyn grinned.

"Oh, tall…I'm talking 6'3" or so. Midnight black hair, shoulder length but pulled back into a ponytail. Most intense blue eyes I've ever seen. Lotsa muscles, but not over stacked. Cute little butt," she giggled.

"Veerrry nice," Catlyn said with a smile. "So…what happened?"

"Nothing," Kyndall said with disgust. "I was so wrapped up with the heinous beast that I didn't even think when I said 'No, I'm busy on Friday night'," she said sarcastically.

"Hmm," Catlyn mused. "Perhaps a trip to Florida would help you," she suggested.

"Why? So I can be tortured by his very presence? At least here in Oklahoma I'm still far enough away to keep myself from stalking him," Kyndall muttered miserably.

"Oh Kyn. I wanna see you. I promise we won't discuss anything to do with the Backstreet Boys while you are here. No AJ. No Nick. No one even remotely involved with them," Catlyn pleaded.

"It does sound fun. And I'd be getting away from here," Kyndall said thoughtfully.

Catlyn nodded. "We'd get offa the stupid computer," she pointed out.

"Yeah, I might even gain what people call a life," she giggled. "But no AJ, and no Backstreet Boys?"

Catlyn smiled. "Who?"

Kyndall grinned. "Thank you Cat."

"Hey. That's what I'm here for," she smiled.

"I guess I'd better be going. Don't think the office would appreciate my superbitch personality tomorrow if I don't get some sleep."

Catlyn giggled. "Yeah. It can be a killer," she teased.

"Thanks. I love you too," Kyndall replied dryly.

"I know. Bbye darlin."

"Bye," Kyndall said hanging up the phone. Sitting at the desk, she looked at the pictures of AJ she had lying around. A look of determination crossed her face as she stood and scooped them up. Walking into her bedroom, she dumped them all into a large box that was sitting in the corner. Taking all her Backstreet Boys videotapes, she tossed them in as well. Grabbing all of their CDs (which was a lot considering the ordering spree she went on, trying to obtain all their "B" sides), she placed them inside the box. All of the paraphernalia she had on them; all the pictures, books, magazines, everything she had that even mentioned them was put in there. Sealing the box with packing tape, she pushed it in the closet tossing a bunch of clothes on top of it. Dusting her hands off, she smiled in satisfaction. Turning around, she walked into the restroom and got ready for bed.
