The Cameroon Development Economics Foundation [CAMDEF]
Areas of Interest:
CAMDEF studies and reviews Cameroon's national economic development policies, including structural adjustment and economic growth. This extends into agriculture, environment and resource utilization, including the links between poverty, agriculture, natural resources and local institutions. The cross-cutting themes of development theory, poverty and food security are also covered.
The Cameroon Development Economics Foundation [CAMDEF] was founded within the Department of Economics at the University of Buea in 2003. Funding is provided by a five year grant from a consortium of International Research Foundations and the University of Buea, Cameroon. CAMDEF supports research in all areas of development economics and provides a forum for Cameroon researchers and students and leading researchers from outside Cameroon to interact and conduct research.
The Foundation is a research unit organized around a small set of 'core' members with a Scientific Committee and associated members (established researchers, post-docs and graduate students) being appointed on a regular basis. The Director of the Foundation is appointed, for a renewable 2 year term, among leading faculty members of the Department of Economics, at the University of Buea.
