The Archaeological Museum - situated in the former Girls' High School, which used to be the biggest in the Balkans, holds one of the country's richest collections. The Oldest World's Gold ( 4,500 BC) can be found there. It was excavated in 1972 near the Varna lake. It's a treasure from prehistoric and neolithic ages, comprising more than 3600 gold and silver pieces. In other halls of the two-storey building, one can find collections of Greek and Roman artefacts as well. Personally, this is my favorite museum. |
