About Camp Life: Camp Life is a one-week summer camp hosted by Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX. Campers have the opportunity to learn independence through sporting and leisure activities such as Goalball, beep baseball, track and field, archery, tae kwon do, gymnastics and rock wall climbing. Campers also participate in lifetime leisure and compensatory skills such as bowling, ice cream socials, game night, scavenger hunts, Odyssey of the Mind projects, and a social dance. Location: Camp Life has created a unique time to enjoy a fun and eventful week located on the beautiful campus of Texas Woman's University. TWU is located in Denton, Texas, approximately 35 miles north of Dallas. Campers enjoy a beautiful and safe enviornment and utilize many of the buildings on campus. Pioneer Hall houses the athletic facilities including an Olympic-size swimming pool, in-door track, large gymnasium, state of the art weight lifting facilities and a climbing wall. Campers have the convience of eating all of their meals in the modern student center and are also able to enjoy the out-door swimming pool and bookstore, as well as the residence halls on campus. Other actitities take place in the Denton community. |

Living Arrangements: Campers get to experience college life by being housed in one of the five residence halls on campus. Each camper is paired with a roommate of the same age and gender. Male and female students are housed on separated floors. All rooms have two twin beds, two built-in desks, private baths and are air-conditioned. Each camper is assigned to a camp counselor who also stays in the dorms on the same floor as the camper. Camp Counselors: All of the camp counselors are graduate students from TWU enrolled in the Adapted Physical Education program and have experience working with children with special needs. The camper-to-counselor ratio is 2:1. The counselors provide friendship, guidance, leadership and support to all campers. All counselors attend a pre-camp orientation and are involved in all daily activities with the campers.
