NY, Continued
In the evening of the 20th, a few of us decided to proceed to the Museum of Modern Art.  I had a few key favourites... Picasso's Boy Leading Horse for example.  I developed another new favourite though.    His name was Georges-Pierre Seurat- and there were 3 of his works in a row. Absolutely fabulous.  On our attempted stroll back to the hotel, things weren't quite so easy.  This is because there was some show on or something and people were trying to take pictures of the celebrities.  We took a detour where they wouldn't let us through, and we ended up having to walk down a red carpet with people on either side to celebrity watch.   Guess they missed out with us...  After arriving back, we went to check out the free side of BBKings, called Lucilles where we had a lovely supper as jazz played in the background.   Quite enjoyed that, as well.

Saturday, May 21st.  The plan for the day was to try and go the Empire State Building- and walk through some food festival that even the Westjet magazine thing said was on.  On our way out we strolled through a market, which was rather lovely.  I quite love those...  We partook in the $10 massage, and I found a lovely wool sweater (zip up with hood) for only $20!  Fashionable, perhaps not.  But quite unique, and a great blue colour.  My favourite purchase of the trip!

After that, we stood in line for what must have been over an hour for the Empire state view.  It was very crazy crowds actually, at the top and even walking for the rest of the day.  More shopping occured throughout the afternoon.  We weren't able to locate the food festival, but walked down a street with meat shops and other non-tourist filled areas before we headed back for supper at Applebys.  We then strolled around Times Square. I picked up a Phantom CD, as after the fabulous show it was too hard to pass up.

Sunday May 22.  We got up for our free breakfast, and begin our long journey home... Once again connecting through Toronto, and this time Calgary, before returning home.

It was an interesting trip to a different part of the world. The skyline was amazing.  The air didn't feel clean (maybe this is because it wasn't, as the time in the shower evidenced).  There were people of all shapes and sizes... diversity that is not nearly as widescale in my small home city.  The vast numbers of people were quite the change from Regina-(population ~200,000).   I returned home, happy for having visited.
