"THE HISTORY OF BRIDGES" 1977: Living in Oslo suburb Manglerud, Magne Furuholmen and Pal Waaktaar who have been playing since childhood from part-time bands like: Spider Empire, Black Day, Black Shappire, and Bridges. Bridges evolves into a four man just right like the Doors. Bridges was integrated by: Magne on the synthesisers; Pal on the vocals and guitars and Oystein Jevanord on drums, he actually replaced Erick Haglien (who used to be behind the drums). 1980 FAKKELTOG: "Torchlight Procession", pressed it was issued on own label, Vakenatt with only 1000 copies pressed. Pal composed a wide variety of pop songs to entire rock operas; The album was recorded and produced with a self promotion and financing. The album was totally influenced by the Doors; The critisim described as dark and pessimistic But at the same time deep and sophisticated. |

When they were prepare to recorded a second album called. "Poem" with the cover designed by Furuholmen, Pal and him change their minds because Waaktaar and Furuholmen had a big dreams and had their sights set on London. In that time they meet a guy called Morten Harket. Who was singing in a different bands. They disscuss ideas for making a more commercial form of music and Bridges ceases. |
1982: Waaktaar and Furuholmen, decided that if they were going to make it big on an international scale, they would have to come to UK. To sell their ideas but Harket said he wasnīt sure to joint them but they advertised for musicians to joint them but they had a little sucess, when they go back to Norway at least Morten said he was welling to joint them; Morten suggested to record some demo tapes. Palīs parents had a summer holiday cabbin in a place called Nerne so they moved in there to record some songs. |
