| 1667 | Battle of Saint Kitts. Outnumbered, British naval forces dealt a major defeat to a combined Dutch-French fleet. Following the remnants into the harbor of St. Kitts, the British destroyed the entire enemy fleet. |
| 1775 | Fort Ticonderoga captured by Americans only to be forced out eight weeks later. |
| 1940 | German glider troops land on and attack the Belgian fort of Eben Emael. |
