 1307Battle of Loudon Hill. English attacked Robert the Bruce's spearmen and unable to prevail, withdrew from battle.
 1667Battle of Saint Kitts. Outnumbered, British naval forces dealt a major defeat to a combined Dutch-French fleet. Following the remnants into the harbor of St. Kitts, the British destroyed the entire enemy fleet.
 1775Fort Ticonderoga captured by Americans only to be forced out eight weeks later.
 1940German glider troops land on and attack the Belgian fort of Eben Emael.
