| 1689 | Battle of Killiecrankie. 2,500 Highland Jacobites defeat 4,500 Royalists under General Mackay. When Mackay reached Stirling he was down to only 400 men. |
| 1779 | Battle of Ushant. First major naval battle of the Revolutionary War. The two fleets sailed past each other, shot off some guns, and generally made a lot of noise, but not much else. |
| 1953 | Armistice signed ending the Korean War. No peace treaty has ever been negotiated. |
