 1644Royalist forces under the Marquis of Montrose defeat Scottish Presbyterian rebels at Aberdeen.
 1645Battle of Phippiphaugh. Roundhead forces surprised and defeat Royalist Highlanders during the English Civil War.
 1683Relief army forces Turks to abandon the second siege of Vienna. For this loss, the Turkish emperor, Muhammad IV, beheaded the Turkish commander, the Grand Vizier Mustafa.
 1759Battle of the Pains of Abraham. French were driven back into Quebec and evacuated it the next day.
 1847Americans capture Chapultepec, a fort on the outskirts of Mexico City, Mexico.
 1882Battle of Tel-el-Kebir. Following a night march, British troops surprise and defeat Egyptian rebels.
