Breeding mainly for temperament, Catalyst Rattery focuses on molding and developing desired behavioral traits. I am not particularly interested in show standards. Only the best possible pet. If a stunning standard should arise, I like to think of it as an added bonus to an already great rat.

Catalyst Rattery is also concerned with promoting rats as the wonderful pets they are! I do not sell for reptile food, under any circumstances. I only sell to loving, caring homes. I will never breed an unhealthy or aggressive animal, remember temperament is my main concern.

I do not ship at this point, as the shipping methods currently available to small animal breeders have proved dangerous, and certainly not worth the risk of the rat's life.

The pups at Catalyst Rattery are guaranteed to receive a large amount of human interaction straight from day one. Molding wonderful characteristics usually not found in pet store feeder rats.

I am a very small scale rattery, thus allowing me to spend equal amounts of time with each rat, both in personal attention and care. My rats are first and foremost my pets, and are all very pampered. For a more detailed look at how I care for my rats, click here.

Catalyst Rattery only breeds for the love of the species. No one ever got rich breeding rats. My adoption fee goes right back into the rats, and only covers a very small portion of their care. My goal is simple: to offer the perfect rat companion.

The short answer would have to be, why because I love rats! This is by no means a way to make money for me, but an enjoyable hobby. The longer answer is because I've noticed a grave difference between older pet store rats, younger pet store rats, and breeders.

Let's face it, pet store rats can be wonderful, my first four rats came out of a feeder tank at a dirty pet store and I couldn't have been more happy with them. But years of experience have taught me, that buying a rat very young and properly socializing it, molds a friendlier and generally more affection animal.

Thus, Catalyst Rattery was born to offer rat lovers in Southern Arizona an alternative to buying a possibly sick animal from a pet store.

I am not implying that all pet stores are horrible. I simply understand that proper human handling during peak stages in the rat's life, can greatly increase it's bond towards humans, as with most animals. This is something most pet store rats are lacking.

You'll notice a difference in Catalyst rats.

In order to purchase a pup from Catalyst Rattery, you must agree to the following terms and conditions. If you have any questions please email cochisecamel@aol.com

1. Pups are not to be bought for reptile or raptor food. Or any food for that matter. In short, they aren't food, they're pets.

2. Pups must go into a disease free home, or be properly quarantined.

3. Pups are to go to rat knowledgeable persons. If this is your first time owning a rat, please do research first.

4. Pups are not to be kept on pine or cedar bedding, as it is harmful to your rat's well being.

5. All pups are sold healthy. Catalyst Rattery is not responsible for any sickness later in the rat's life.

6. If you plan to breed your pup, you must let me know your intentions beforehand.

7. Please bring an appropriate travel container when you pick up your pup.

I am located 30 minutes East of Benson, Arizona. I realize I'm kind of in the middle of nowhere, so to make things easier for you, I do deliver to areas around Cochise and Pima County.

I can arrange delivery in Sunsites-Pearce, Dragoon, Cochise, and Benson for no additional charge.

I can arrange delivery to Tucson for a $5 delivery fee. This is not per rat, but flat rate to help me offset the cost of the gas, as I live an hour and a half from the city.
