Competition Dolls
So far, I've just entered two competitions.  Definitely, these competitions were learning experiences for me!   In this new year, I hope to enter at least one more.   Both of the first dolls are original designs.
Katherina, the shrew!  She's based on Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew"
She  won a 1st place ribbon in the 2001  AV competition.
Antelope Valley Dolls & Bears Show
"Bridal Dance" was entered into the Sulky of America Challenge of 1999.  Although she didn't win anything, she was chosen to travel in the Sulky Tour in 2000.  That was certainly gratification enough for me!!

I used Sulky metallic & rayon threads on the garment surfaces.  The doll was made of felt and slightly needle sculpted.  Her top was quilted and the outer skirt had pintucking.  The neckband and veil was made of  machine lace using those same threads.
