My name is Court and I am a white Pekingese boy.
I am about 6 yrs. old and I live in Florida. I am
deaf and have brain damage that causes some problems,
but I am a happy guy who is adored and loved beyond my dreams.
I also have luxating patellas in both knees and a cherry
eye. My mom took me to a neurologist and he said that
there was nothing we could do for me, but that I was
doing pretty well as I am.
In July 2002, my mom heard that 4 white Pekingese
were dumped at a local shelter and were scheduled
to be put down because they were aggressive. She
rushed to the shelter and begged the animal control officers
to allow her to adopt all 4 of us and they did! They
told her if she could pick up the dogs she could have them.
Well, she just prissed right back to our cage, grabbed us and swooped us up into her arms one at a time and marched out to her SUV. She came back
and signed some papers and we zoomed off into the sunset. We growled
and snapped at mom for a few days and tried to bite her if she
touched us or tried to pick us up. After we realized she
was not going to put us back into a cage or hurt us, we started
to trust her. Our previous human had kept us in cages and
bred us. Mom thinks that Avery and Blake may be my sons,
but she will never know. I believe that I am mom's favorite,
because every time I want to be held or snuggled, all I have
to do is give her "the look" or put my paw up on
her leg or the side of the bed. She and Dad bought a new
home in Florida without stairs just for me. I can not climb
stairs with my knees, but I can run and romp around the
huge back yard.

special gift from Heaven and that I am the reason she was put on earth.
