Bryce5 Lesson 1 : Intro

First by clicking on top border you make appear a standard menu. Go to File/Document Setup and
at
Document resolution put 800 x 600. Validate your change with
at the bottom.

Go to that little gray arrow, and choose "Camera View".

First at top/left corner there a small picture of what your scene would look like. There a sky and the
gray part is the ground without texture on it. It look like a grid, because you view it in wireframe mode.
It's an infinite plane, so you don't have to resize it, it will fill the entire scene. Left Click on it, it will be
selected. A vertical menu appear. Click the M button, we will put a material on this plane.

We will go to the Material Library by clicking on the little white arrow on right top
of the material preview window.

Choose the "Waters&Liquids" category and choose the second thumbnail "Carribean Resort".
Validate

You can see the water in the preview window. Look at the name of the different parameters.
The ovals are for a color change. You click on them to make a change.
The sliders move horizontally.
Specularity is a little bright portion of the light who is reflecting on a surface.
Bump Height is an effect that give deepness to the material. You could put higher waves to your water here.
Reflection is the "Mirror" effect of a surface. By putting more you will see the sky reflecting on your water.
The windows at top right shows the images used in this material.
The first round button "Editor" control the repetition of the material on the plane surface.
If your waves are to tiny, you low down the % equally by holding/move left in the center of the box.
But
for now we make no changes, just validate

You see in the little preview window that your plane have his water material.
We will go get a different sky. Fast Click on the little gray arrow at right of Sky & Fog
on top menu.

Choose
"A Bit Of Snow, Maybe ?" and validate
.

You can now do your first render calculation.
Click on the big gray ball with no arrows on it, and the rendering will start.
Your first render is done ! You can save your image by opening the standard menu by clicking on
the top border of the screen. At File/Save Image As . Choose the bmp format for a first quality image.
For a 1024 x 768 image, go back to File/ Document Setup. Render.
Press [Esc] on your keyboard to return to work.

These are the controls of the camera point of view. Experiment and look at your result in the
little preview window.
To save your scene , if you want to work later on it. Save it at File/Save As ...
It will create a file with the br5 extension.
