"I tossed the tarn keeper a golden tarn disk. He had done his job well. He stammered, holding it out to me, for me to take it back. A golden tarn disk was a small fortune. It would buy one of the great birds themselves, or as many as five slave girls."
Book 1, Tarnsman of Gor, page 211 ~才
"Actually, fifty silver tarn disks was an extremely high price, and indicated the girl was probably of high caste as well as extremely beautiful. An ordinary girl, of low caste, comely but untrained, might, depending on the market, sell for as little as five or as many as thirty tarn disks." Book 2, Outlaw of Gor, page 193

"Yesterday afternoon, for an incredible forty pieces of gold, four quivas and the saddle of a kaiila, Kamchak had sold Tenchika back to Albrecht. It was one of the highest prices ever paid among the wagons for a slave and I judged that Albrecht had sorely missed his little Tenchika; the high price he was forced to pay for the girl was made even more intolerable by Kamchak's amusement at his expense, roaring with laughter and slapping his knee because only too obviously Albrecht had allowed himself to care for the girl, and she only slave! Book 4, Nomads of Gor, pages 57 - 58
"Cernus smiled. 'Our Physicians ascertained,' said he, 'that she is only a Red Silk Girl.' Book 5, Assassin of Gor, page 45
"She had first been sold for eight silver tarsks to a keeper of one of the public kitchens in a cylinder, a former creditor of her father, who had in mind making a profit on her; she worked in the kitchen for a year as a pot girl, sleeping on straw and chained at night, and then, as her body more adequately developed the contours of womanhood, her Master bracketed her and took her to the Capacian Baths where, after some haggling, he received a price of four gold pieces and a silver tarsk; she had begun in one of the vast cement pools as a copper-tarn-disk girl and had, four years later, become a silver-tarsk girl in the Pool of Blue Flowers." Book 5, Assassin of Gor, pages 164 - 165 ~才
"I had noticed her. She was thin, and not very pretty. She was not much of a slave. 'Her price,' said the proprietor, 'is five silver tarsks.' " Book 6, Raiders of Gor, page 121
"But I did, of course, pay them well and, in my holding, knowing men, saw that they could have their pick of some of Port Kar's most beautiful slave girls. I had purchased the girl whom I had seen dance in the Page Tavern, for forty pieces of gold." Book 6, Raiders of Gor, page 139
"The slave master was again counting the fifty copper tarn disks.
I shook my head. 'Too much,' I told him. Book 6, Raiders of Gor, page 182
"She was very beautiful in the bit of slave silk. I noted the bells locked on her left ankle. She was slender, dark-haired, dark-eyed. Her eyes were wide. She had exciting legs, well revealed by the slave-height of her brief silk. Book 8, Hunters of Gor, page 15 ~才
About Panther Girls Book 8, Hunters of Gor, pages 25 - 26 ~才
"Male slaves, on Gor, are not particularly valuable, and do not command high prices. Most labor is performed by free men. Most commonly, male slaves are utilized on the cargo galleys, and in the mines, and on the great farms. They also serve, frequently, as porters at the wharves. Still, perhaps they are fortunate to have their lives, even at such a price. Males captured in war, or in the seizure of cylinders or villages, or in the pillaging of caravans, are commonly slain. The female is the prize commodity in the Gorean slave markets. A high price for a male is a silver tarsk, but even a plain wench, of low caste, provided she moves well to the touch of the auctioneer's coiled whip, will bring as much, or more. An exception to the low prices for males generally is that paid for a certified woman's slave, a handsome male, silken clad, who has been trained to tend a woman's compartments. Some of such bring a price comparable to that brought by a girl, of average loveliness. Prices, of course, tend to fluctuate with given markets and seasons. If there are few such on the market in a given time, their prices will tend to be proportionately higher. Such men tend to be sold in the women's auctions, closed to free men, with the exception, of course, of the auctioneer and such personnel. Some of such bring a price comparable to that brought by a girl, of average loveliness." Book 8, Hunters of Gor, page 32 ~才
" 'What price did you obtain for the panther girls you sold?' I asked Thurnock. Book 8, Hunters of Gor, page 44 ~才
"The man's hand was strong on her arm. 'Here is a nameless slave!' he cried. 'What am I bid for her?' Book 8, Hunters of Gor, pages 52 - 53 ~才
" 'I,' said Thurnock, 'wonder about that dancer. She is a juicy, fat little tabuk is she not?' Book 8, Hunters of Gor, page 53 ~才
"I could recall that once, it now seemed long ago, this girl, in a marvelously staged sale, with all the skills of the great auction house, the Curulean, in Ar, had, with two other girls, Virginia Kent and Phyllis Robertson, brought fifteen hundred gold pieces.... Now this girl, once Elizabeth Cardwell, of Earth, now a paga slave in Lydius, would bring only fifteen to twenty-five pieces of gold. Contexts, and markets, were interesting. Book 8, Hunters of Gor, page 61 ~才
"...four paga slaves, in yellow silks, brought up from Laura, chained in a longboat, would have arrived in my camp. It had been the main object of Rim's journey to Laura to arrange for their rentals and delivery. According to Rim they were beauties. I hoped that he was right, for their master, Hesius, tavern owner in Laura, had not chared high rentals nor excessive delivery charges. We would have them for a copper tarn disk apiece, per day." Book 8, Hunters of Gor, page 108 ~才
"I looked at her. I wondered what she would bring me on the block. Yesterday I would have regarded her as a four-gold piece girl. But today lovely Ilene's value had considerably increased. I imagined her ascending the block, turning for the buyers, presenting her beauty for their consideration, responding to the deft guidance of the auctioneer's coiled whip. And then, when she was unready, when she did not expect it, he would, with the coiled whip, admiinster to her the slaver's caress. I could well conjecture, now, the response of her awakened body. The crowd would be much pleased. The movement would be startled, involuntary, sudden, wild, helpless, uncontrollable. Her womanhood would have been betrayed. How enraged, how tearful, she would be. The men would laugh. She had been forced, tricked, before her buyers, on the very block itself, into displaying publicly the ready womanhood of her. Book 8, Hunters of Gor, pages 220 - 221 ~才
" 'For what did she sell?' I asked. Book 8, Hunters of Gor, pages 317 - 318 ~才

"I had been sold for six copper tarsks. It was my worth on Gor." Book 11, Slave Girl of Gor, page 251

" 'I crawl to my Master on my belly,' she said, 'and beg for his touch.' Book 12, Beasts of Gor, page 80
"Most Gorean Masters could not afford more then one girl. The price obtained on one, of course, can be applied to the purchase of the next. In this sense, after the initial investment, provided one both sells and buys, girls are cheap." Book 12, Beasts of Gor, page 234 ~才
"The dark haired, shapely girl from Tyros had gone for twenty-nine tarsks. Book 13, Explorers of Gor, page 46 ~才
"The girls in Pembe's tavern, as in many taverns, are not permitted to touch coins. Evelyn, of course, who had come with the higher price of the first cup, was mine until I chose to leave the tavern or in some other way release her." Book 13, Explorers of Gor, page 173 ~才
"Slavery, for example, marvelously, subtly, tends to bring out the beauty in a woman. Many women, after a year or two in bondage, become so beautiful that they can double or triple their price." Book 20, Players of Gor, page 23
" 'Each went for a silver tarsk ten,' he said. 'Both were superb. I was tempted to bid on them myself.' " Book 22, Dancer of Gor, page 152
"...In many paga taverns, one may have paga and food, and a girl for the alcove, if one wants for a single copper tarsk. Dancers, to be sure, sometimes cost two." Book 23, Renegades of Gor, pages 51 - 52
"In a sense a woman is worth as much or as little as someone is willing to pay for her." Book 25, Magicians of Gor, page 338
