The
most common fishing bait use around Singapore is 'Hei',
prawns in hokkien, are universal baits where any type of fishes will just
give a nibble when they swim by. 'Live Prawn' would be a outstanding bait
at any occasion. A box of prawns shown on left hand side would probably
cost you about $2-3 in the wet market, one can also easily pick off from
the shelf of the supermarket. 'Live Prawn' can only be bought from special
place such angler shop, fishing ponds and seafood
supplier. |

Another
common fishing bait use around Singapore is Ragworm. Gross
Man!, if i were you, i would not say that. These so called 'ragworm' are
'famous'. I heard of the present and history of people landing fishes up
to 40kg from shore where all the credits goes to the worm! The worm can
grow up to more than 20cm long! A small box of these worms would cost you
$3-4. Giant carfish and stingrays favourite! |

Tubeworm', sarong in malay, is a type of worm
found in the swampy costal. The worm hide in their cocoons (tube) as shown
in the picture, to protect themselves. We have to squeeze them out and
hook themon. One can buy from angler shop where there are about 10 to 15
tubes of worms in a packet. They cost around $2 to $2.50 ideal for
catfishs and stingrays. |

This
is a picture of some sandeels that was caught off some costal area. You
may start to wonder why these fishes are called 'Eels' when thet does not
resemble one! One can always easily pick up a packet of this fishes from
any local supermarkrt. If you look carefully at the price tag, these
fishes are called 'Smelt' instead of sandeel. this fish, itself is a good
bait for stingrays. |

'Tamban', was one of the fish bait, it is
recommended for KBL fishing. Schools of tanbams that swim in the sea
are always found being attack by bigger species fishes especially KBL.
'Live Tanbam' would effectively seduce these bigger species. Wet market
are selling these tanbam but for live tanbam, one just have to plough into
their angerling stuffs or to get the casting net and ready to headed for
the sea. |

the fishing area that I have been. I called this 'THUNDERCRAB'
or muakee but others have a different names for it. All you
have to do, is to cut open it and exposed the fresh and
there goes the baits for the day. Recommended for big fish
with sharp tooth that can TEAR! |
