Furukawa Boys Senior High School Miyagi Prefecture, Japan |
THIS is where I work 5 days a week - Furukawa Boys Senior High School - commonly referred to around the area as "Furuko". It is an academic level high school with a history stretching for more than 100 years. I am amazed at how frequently I run into old Furuko graduates ("OB") while I go about my business around town. Even the guy who comes and collects my "voluntary" contributions to the NHK Broadcasting company (could you imagine PBS going around door-to-door and essentially forcing you to donate?) is a graduate of this high school. Thought to be one of the "better" high schools in the area, many junior high school students from Furukawa and surrounding towns take our school's entrance exam in March. |
--- Most of the graphics, and even some of the info on this page, all came from the Japanese version of this site, so thanks to whoever put it up! - domo ne, Chris --- |

There's lots of stuff I can say about my school. Of course they're all just expressions of my own opinions, but you can still - 1. click HERE to read about a typical day/class for me at Furuko. 2. click HERE to read about my take on the Japanese school system. 3. click HERE to read about our approaches to teaching English. |
