George Harrison was born on Feburary 25, 1943. This makes him the youngest of the four Beatles. George was friends with Paul before he joined the Quarrymen. George first picked up a sitar on the set of Help! and Ravi Shankar taught him how to play. George wrote some of the Beatles most beautiful songs, such as "Something" which reached #1 on the Billboard charts! After the Beatles broke up, George went on to write his masterpiece album, "All Things Must Pass". This album contains the hit song "My Sweet Lord". George has had many successfull solo albums over the years. In 1971, George organized the Concert for Bangladesh. George recorded an award winning album in the 80s, "Cloud Nine." He also put together a new rock group, "The Travelling Wilburys" with Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, and Tom Petty. The group recorded two successful albums. George's first wife was Patti Boyd whom he married in January of 1966. George and Patti were divorced in 1977. George married Olivia Aries in 1978. George collaborated with Paul and Ringo for the songs "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love" in the 90s. George and his wife Olivia were stabbed by an intruder who broke into there home during the night in 1999. George has also battled throat cancer. He has had a lump removed from his lung and possibly a tumor from his brain. |
