Aloha Andiamo, Beautiful Betties and Supporters, It really sucks being on this side of the updates. Mrs. Sneaky - did you get the photos I sent (which by the way used up all of the allotted space in your clear.net.nz account)? Perhaps you are melting away on the gorgeous beach by the Kaneohe Yacht Clu instead of being a slave to the website - a break that you truly deserve! Hope you've had some wind today, but not too much blowing from Tropical Storm Daniel!!! xxxooo

Hello Guys, Great Site! I have just been checking the Kenwood results - The weather looks very light! I hope you get better conditions from here on - On behalf of Team Starlight Express GOOD LUCK for the rest of the regatta. We're off soon to Hamilton Island (The boat left on 1 8/2000). Could have done with a bit more time training and getting familiar with the overlappers and masthead gear (Racing with them for the first time ... different targets, crossovers and they are a bit of a prick to grind at the top of their range!!!) I look forward to hearing more news. Cheers, Edmund.

Can't say I'm impressed with all this relaxing stuff. Who needs all that Sun beaches and cocktails (sob sob). If it's wind you need, Wellington has just put on a real old Wellington Winter gale, be glad to send it over. Well I guess its home to the Rum, Sun lamp and thoughts of white sand, blue water and men in convertables.

Aloha, Cold rum beverages served in fresh pineapples are most refreshing in the 80F degree heat (at 9.00 pm ... or is that too cruel). Steve does not believe in anything to cut the alcohol but for palm tree cocktail stirrers and an ice cube if we are lucky. The harem is exhausted after a day driving around to local beaches in our flash silver convertible. The harem have already chatted up Rusty (or was it the other way around ..) the commmodore of the Hawaii Yacht Club to make sure Andiamo makes prime bert in front of the yacht club. Making preparations with ukelele and beers for the big entrance of our strong crew late tomorrow night, we'll be sure to be adorned with 99cent leis (can't call us cheap). Excitement is building within the harem for the arrival of Andiamo, and sleep is b ing lost by Pip and Roz in anticipation of Andiamo entering Kanehoe Bay. Also looking forward to the arrival of the remaining (majority) of the Betty's - although Roz may only get to say hello and goodbye at the airport within a space of 10 minutes. Got to go, more cocktails and dinner await us. Steve we're ready to go, bring the limo round will you ....... Bring your sunscreen people, - it's hot, damn hot!!! Hello World, Greetings from Hawaii, and every man's fantasy... The Pacific Cup is taking much longer than expected due to a lack of wind, forcing me to entertain Laraine, Pip and Roz. My Harem. Yes, indeedy, too much fun... Ah, yes. Life is truly good. Beach again tomorrow, perhaps after the pool. In a few minutes, I must take them out for dinner and yet more drinks. Ah, life is good. Enjoy it while I can, as our heroes aboard Andiamo will arrive in the next 48 hours! Then the next level of fun begins- 're-lubricating' the crew with proper liqour! Well, if all goes well, we will be out to greet Andiamo when they finish, sometime around 3 am Tuesday morning the 25th. Cheers, Steve PS: weather is beautiful, and the women are even better!

Hi Pip Not sure if this is the right place to leave a message but will give it a go. Have been checking the website daily to see Andiamo progress and wishing that they'll race home earlier than the 27th. I might just see Richie at home rather than on the warm eaches of Hawaii ... Now ensconsed in London and having a great time catching up with old friends ... Have had a very cold and wet time in Ireland and even though the ETA of the boats is still late by the looks of the first boats due into the finish lin my plan at this stage is to continue with plan to be in Hawaii by about the 21 July to get some much awaited sunshine (if I can bear to leave here so soon). What I may do is fly in and go directly up to the North Shore of the Island for a couple of days before heading back down to Waikiki. What are your plans?? Having too much fun in San Fran and are you going to delay arrival in Hawaii, if so, we'll need to cancel hotel. Hope you are having loads of fun and looking forward to whether we still meet on 2nd or not at the Polo Hotel. You could email me directly on my hotmail address: roz_circuitt@hotmail.com or just leave a message here. See you soon. Cheers Roz

It sure is quiet in Alameda now that Andiamo has taken off on the great adventure! Steve and I are now in the mad rush to wrap up everything at work and catch up on a little sleep so we can jet-set off to Hawaii on the 21st to be there for Andiamo's arri al (and enjoy a little sunshine too!) Though we are disappointed our trip won't overlap with Elizabeth the Web Queen and many of Andiamo's NZ supporters, we do think our timing is impeccable as we can provide updates and photos via Steve's laptop during A diamo's first week in Hawaii - just as we leave, Elizabeth arrives to professionally coordinate media relations! Sail fast Andiamo!

Thanks to our sailmakers, Kame & Sally Richards of Pineapple Sails, everyone was well 'fed and watered' last night! They hosted a wonderful dinner for the gang + Laraine (I had a business commitment that kept me away until later) last night. Particularl fun as Andiamo will be racing against Kame, who will be aboard White Caps (Santa Cruz 50). A fun rivalry begins! Well, off to finish work and then catch up with the gang in SF. Also, need to ensure that the Senator and Wiz head over to the city as well. Time for fun during the final night! Cheers, Steve

Greetings to all our supporters, the Senator and I have been let out to get some latest weather info while the others are refueling and all those last minute jobs. This has been an extremely hectic week both on the boat and socially, the hospitality and assistance is incredible. we have had acouple of problems with the electrics and comms but we are happy that we are on track for our departure in 24 hours. it seems not that long that we were at the RPNYC formulating the campaign. The early boats have sailed into light conditions and we hope that we get the expected 15knots for our start We are delighted to report that Mal has now a nickname... 'Alice' as in Alice, Alice, where the F*** is Alice. Also derived from Mal, Malice,Alice. now none of this is fair but as you know there are very few rules on Andiamo As a matter of personal interest I am hoping to lose my nickname on this tour of duty,... hope is wonderful thing Our gear bags and stuff are off to Hawaii today, most of the shopping is done and we hope to find time this afternoon to see San Fran, we are based on an island near the Coastguard, they have more ships than our Navy.. The Slave is learning to be a marine sparky but not without much protest.. Taills as usual is up at dawn beating doors down, we look forward to the watch system.. Legs is down to her last day of makeup , she has been banned the use of such frivolous and weighty items on board.. Chipper is an able replacement for Noodle and has climbed the rig like a true foredeck hand.. Wiz the silicone king has sealed every fixture to ensure a dry boat. We think he might be worried about dissolving.. Mal is completing the watch system, its time to be real nice to him.. the watch system is in colours, pink, black and white, dont ask.. Senator, well as he is here I have to be prudent, he is my roommate but I can advise that his usally diplomatic way has fallen short over here, well at least on one occasion that I was present at.. Sneaky of course has been exemplary.....sorry Senator here...I cant let that go....Actually reasonably well behaved so say no more for the moment. Pip has been her usual radiant self and causing havoc on the wrong side of the road.. We of course send our love and thanks to you all for your greetings and support. The emails have been printed and delivered by Steve and Laraine who have been so fantastic it would be difficult to know how we could reciprocate This will be our last comm before we finish at Kaneohe Bay in 11 - 13 days There is one more thing, i guess you know we are adventurous types but I can assure you there is nothing quite like the Senator driving with me navigating from Alameda to SF airport.. This is a great story, each time we made a correct decision we took ti e out to shake hands and then continue. Yesterday I went with Mal to the local shops, this was a hairraising experience, all is forgiven Senator. We have beaten bureaucracy at every turn, and 'have a nice day' is a fine expression when the customs guy finds two kiwis at his counter wanting some racing sails for a race to Hawaii. As you can imagine we had no intention of paying duty or fees and we ere succesful, another handshake and my comment to the Senator was to get the hell out of the carpark before anyone realised. The crew have done an amazing job and the boat is looking really good, the battle flags are up and Wiz has bought along a Kiwi brandishing a maori spear, this is at the top and we are instantly recognisable with a very large NZ flag at our stern. An update on the misfortunes of Kiwi Coyote, they will now start on Friday with the sleds, I understand the mast is being put together but we havent learnt if the running rigging has been found.. Elizabeth, we are getting great feedback re your work with the website, keep it up and we will see you in Hawaii With best wishes from all the Andiamo crew, Aloha Senator and sneaky

Aloha Andiamo supporters! Last night, after an arduous flight, Andrew and Pip finally arrived. A bit of a surprise, as the crew had no idea (if they had an inkling, they had given up, as Andrew & Pip did not get to the Inn until 10pm- just in time for an after dinner surprise and a party!). Work was looking good on the boat today, and the last I saw, Sneaky was navigating for the Senator as he drove my car off to the airport... Life's short, make it an adventure! Will keep all informed. Also, Kiwi Coyote News: As of today, Forespar is allegedly going to work around the clock to build a new rig by Sunday. Hopefully they will be trucking the boat and new rig up the coast... weather window is not promising to go to weather north of Point onception. No need to repeat the first process, indeed. Aloha Andiamo gang!! Pleased to report that Andiamo is safely tied up to her mooring at Svendsen's Marine in Alameda, California, USA. The Direct Jabiru crew was great, and Ivan and his stevedore's off-loading her made it a two hour precision surgical manuever. Why? Because they all recognized the tug boat we had organised for the morning as belonging to former tug boat Captain and EYC member Danny Wilson (sadly, deceased). Sea Dive is now owned by his gracious widow Jackie, who loaned her to fellow EYC member Colin Dewey (the man is a master with large shipping manuevers and all things ocean) for the Andiamo mission. Also on board for the morning's duties were 'able bodied seamen' Laraine McKinnon (see her link, well, mine too at http://www.sailmaker.com/ads/00jun. tm), EYC Commodore Bill Stephens, and EYC member Michael Redmond. For the afternoon contingency, we had a few new 'volunteers' (hey, they said they were bored...)- Board Member Tom Foley and Staff Commodore Joseph Melino joined us, with Joseph's capable essel 'Esprit Victorieux' as the new tow vessel, again under Colin Dewey's formidable guidance, to complete the last leg of the voyage to Svendsen's- all 300 meters! So, that is the report- a fun and successful day! Allegedly I was in charge, though I must say that other than signing the papers, my crew and Colin's expertise made it so easy, there was nothing for me to do but 'look good' and buy 'em all a few pints afterwards! Look forward to seeing you this week! Cheers, Steve Rienhart(and Laraine too!)

Wish I could be with you on your Pacific adventures! And sorry that I have hardly seen any of you in the last several months: my travel schedule around the Far East has been ridiculous - and I have just found out that I will not be able to come to your 's nd off' on 23rd since I will be in Sydney... (rude word!) Wish I could be with you on the downhill run across to Hawaii! Have fun, cause trouble! Nicki and Rhumbline

For those that wish to know: The 3rd photo down on the first page of pics makes a wicked background for your computer screen. This just keeps getting better.

Aren't you clever! This is an excellent web site, I have already used it in one of my university assignments so no doubt the site will recieve some more 'hits'. All we need now is a stunning photo of the boat betty's to go into the photo gallery, maybe e could snap something luscious at the Andiamo lunch in a couple of weeks, after a couple of Chardonnay's....!With lots of love from Rach and Baby Beau
