Brian Coburn | PC | Thank you for inquiring about the sensitive issue of Adoption
Disclosure.
This is a very sensitive issue that affects adoptees, birth parents and adoptive parents. The Ernie Eves government understands this, and that is why we have worked so hard to improve the process of reuniting families. Again thank you for taking the time to inquire about the PC party’s views on Adoption Disclosure. If you would like more information on any of our policies, I encourage you to visit our website at www.ontariopc.com . |

Melanie Ransom | Green | none | with contact vetoes (see comment) | with contact vetoes (see comment) | I am leaning towards the second option (contact vetoes), where the veto would protect the identity (name, city/province) of the individual, but would provide vital information such as health history, with perhaps a mechanism that
would allow for a third party to request that the biological parent of
the adoptee to remove the veto. (I.e. that the adoptee was seeking to
meet).
My opinions are not fixed in stone. I'd need to hear more sides to the story as well as getting legal opinions. I recognize the current difficulties preventing adoptees to unite with their biological parents are problematic. |
