In your e-mail you asked about what type of legislation I would support in this respect. This issue is very important to me. This past year, I had the opportunity to help a constituent become reunited with her adoptive daughter. Their story has received a lot of attention in our community. Fortunately, it was a very happy story in an adoption climate where there are so many people who do not have such happy endings to their search. I support Marilyn Churley’s Private Member’s Bill (formerly Bill 16) on adoption disclosure. I have spoken to many people in my riding in the adoptive community who also support Churley’s Bill. I will continue to lend my support to this legislation in the future. |
