Well this is my first article on this page (written 6/5/97).
I was watching the NBA finals (game two on wednesday) and I despite having to listen to
Bill Walton, I noticed that the Jazz seemed to just not want to win. Now it could be because
Karl Malone hurt his hand, or it could be that Michael Jordan is the greatest player ever
(by the way he's not the greatest player ever, that man's name is Walter "Wilt" Chamberlain) but I think
I saw the Jazz just concied defeat to the Bulls, I think it was about the end of the second
quarter that this happened. Now unfortunately I don't have a mute button on my TV or I would use it
(believe me the announcers are awful sometimes) but I actually heard them say that the Bulls were the
greatest team ever. Now I have a roommate that is a SERIOUS Boston Celtic's fan and when
he heard this...oh my, it hit the fan. Well anyways he went on and on about the '86 Celts' and how Larry
Bird, Kevin McHale and the Chief (Robert Parrish) Were the greatest front line in NBA history, and how he
thinks four of the starters and one reserve from that team in '86 are going to be in the Hall of Fame
(Larry Bird, Kevin Mchale, Robert Parrish, Dennis Johnson and Bill Walton), and the Celtic tirade didn't end
until half time was over. He then went on to say that the '96 Bulls, the ones with the 72 wins and 10 losses,
play in a watered down league. He thinks this because the Raptors and the Grizzles both suck and the Celtics
didn't get those automatic wins, that he feels the Bulls got by playing those teams. I pointed out that the
Bulls lost to the Raptors en route to the 72 wins. He didn't seem to care. He pointed out that the '86 Celtics
had a 39 win 1 loss home record...which still stands by the way, that the Bulls didn't touch. He said that the
Bulls of the ninties don't have a serious rival like the eighties teams had. The Lakers and the Celtics, the Pistons
and the Knicks. You would think that it was so much more difficult to win the Eastern Conference back then and it's
so easy today. Just look at the Bulls four championships, one against the Old Lakers, one against the Trailblazers
one against the Rockets, and one against the Sonics. Plus the championship of the east comes to easy now to the Bulls.
the Heat play five lousy games, the year before the Magic get SWEPT and the other times the Pacers didn't
fair much better. Only the Pat Riley coached Knicks did decently against Chicago and they still lost. I still don't see
his point though, the Bulls are clearly the greatest EVER.
Well write to me or sign my guestbook if you want to tell me how you feel on the Bulls being the "Greatest Team Ever".
