THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
DISSENT AND TREASON

WASHINGTON -- So, the attorney general of the
United States tells me: "To those who scare peace-loving people
with phantoms of lost liberty, my message is this: Your tactics
only aid terrorists."
Well, screw you, buddy! What are you trying to
say? Are you saying that anyone who talks about civil rights, civil
liberties and the freedom that makes us Americans is a traitor in
this undeclared but loudly proclaimed war?

Ironic irony

December 6, 2001—I'm amazed by the general stupor
being displayed by many people who were normal, or nearly so, just
a few months ago. Along with common sense, reason and a few of our
civil liberties, genuine debate is out of fashion right now. The
wholly American concept of dissent is now un-American, even, to
some, treasonous. Is that ironic, or what?

December 12th is a day we'll all remember, and
remember we will! Across the country and on your computers and phones
at home (for those of you not near an event and not traveling to
DC), you can participate by protesting against the day the Supreme
Court used the Equal Protection Act to disenfranchise thousands
of people and kill Democracy.

of votes in the Florida election by a partisan and unethical 5 Court
majority of conservative U.S. Supreme Court Justices.

To commemorate the first anniversary of the Supreme Court's
decision in Bush v. Gore, Democrats.com is sponsoring a forum to
bring together authors of books about the 2000 election and its
aftermath. The event will be held on Monday December 10th at 7:00
PM at the Kay Spiritual Life Center on the American University
campus in Washington.
