| It was then the part which we had all been waiting for, reports from the captain, secretary, treasurer, kit-man and Hong Kong Cricket Association (HKCA) representative. Doug started the proceeding by reviewing the match reports of this season and noted the EXPECTED, "Stead made his way to the pavilion after a fighting 20 and whist able to withstand the rigors of the opposition bowling, he could not overcome the incompetence of Grocer's umpiring." (v Centaurs); the UNTHINKABLE, "They bowled and they bowled, in-swingers, cutters, offies and Chinamen but only because it was National Day. Berger and Stead were absolutely impenetrable. First wicket falls at 177, as you would expect, playing on the grass at the Gap and C.C.C. batting first." (v Witherers); the COMEBACK, "William Turner Hilton Wadsworth made a huge return, dropping a dolly at mid-off, followed by a regulation at deep mid-off and then a blinder at gully, to dismiss St. George's skipper, who can hit a ball." (v St. George's); the CASUALTY,¡§The low point for DT was when he was hit in the head by a ball being returned to the bowler, with all the usual C.C.C. finesse - into the sun, high and when the bowler is not paying any attention at all." (v Lamma); and of course, the EXCUSE, "I was looking for the common denominator for this amazing run of post seasonal-festivity success. That made me look for who is now missing that may have held the team back for the last 25 years and I came to the crushing conclusion that the only change this year is the complete absence of the only undefeated CCC domestic skipper, the Lumbersaurus. So there you have it - Jack Lumber contributes more in absentia to C.C.C.'s victories than he did as player, coach, treasurer, umpire, supporter, kitman and orange boy." (v Kai Tak). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| With the skipper in total control on and off the field, this left very little for the secretary to do. In order to secure his position, something has to be done. Thus on Nov 1, 2001, the C.C.C. website was online and was well received by players from past and present, friends and relatives alike. The popularity of the website will continue to grow with the launch of the Club's website in the near future. The 2002 Ladies' Night was again a huge success with almost 30 people attended. Special thanks again to Roger Nissim and Nigel Stearns for their respective arrangements in the venue and catering. The secretary also provided Club President and Cricket Convenor, Mr. Paul Tam with reports regarding the team from time to time. Finally, a big thank you to Ludwig who was a great help in all possible ways. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
