The Pass family is on the move
In June last year in partnership with some friends of ours we purchased 62 acres of land!!  In March 2000 we will begin construction on what will 'hopefully' be our lifetime home.  This page will be a way of sharing the progression from raw bush to wonderful home. Hope you like it as much as we do!!
This is the site of our new home.  We knocked down a few trees but as you can see there are still many here.
This is the kids playing in the 'cubby'.  Notice the vast amounts of bracken fern around.
This is the guys building a storage shed and roof cover for a car.
My Mum and I with Jimmy the dog on our block
We are planning a permaculture garden and a few other environmentally friendly additions such as a composting toilet.  This is the fruition of a dream that we never thought would come true so soon or that we would own as much land.  God has blessed us beyond imagination!!!
The fun begins!!! Construction time
Our idea for our home is to build a large shed on a concrete slab (which you can see below)  the home itself will be built beyond this shed.  We have no town water here hence our water tank.
This photo is taken from the opposite direction to the previous photo.  Note the solar system on the roof, this provides us with our hot water only.  We had thought about complete solar systems but the ongoing costs were too prohibitive, especially considering the cost of petrol these days!!!!
David and his parents.  They have been helping us a great deal with the building work and clearing the land.
The water tank now has a companion.  The silver tank (at right) is used to gravity feed water into the house this gives us our water pressure.  We pump water from the main tank to the gravity tank on a weekly basis.
The kids are pretty happy out here they have much more room to roam and play.  Our backyard before was pocket handkerchief sized!!!  Now they have 62 acres to explore.
Unwelcome Visitor!!!!
This brown snake jumped out at Jimmy from under a pile of timber.  It missed him and fell foul of a nearby pipe.
Jimmy is just making sure it won't make trouble for the rest of the family!
It isn't until Dad lifted the snake up vertically that you get the true picture as to how big he actually was.  Since this day David has found 3 baby brown snakes in the yard while digging the vegetable patch.  One about the size of a pencil.
