Huntly castle
is located in the "Whisky country" of Scotland between Inverness and
Aberdeen. There are many famous Scotch whisky distilleries
nearby.
The castle is a ruin with much of the curtain wall and secondary towers
destroyed. The main keep is still standing and can be explored
however. There is even a dungeon of sorts. My son, Douglas,
had a
great time running around this castle and its many rooms and
passageways. None of the chambers in the castle are furnished, so
visitors are free to explore at will. The views from the top of
the
main tower are impressive.
