I Spy Apolo
Geez. You know how I hate delivering actual information, but you also know sometimes I just can’t help it.

This is the weekend of the MetRx Superstars Competition reruns. The channel is CBS. Part one on Saturday. Part two on Sunday. Check your local listings for the specific airtimes or just wake up at dawn and park yourself in front of your TV all day.

Here are some more alerts I gleaned from a Yahoo group.

Television:

·     6.30.02, airtime undetermined, Fox Sports Net - Victor Awards Special Winter Olympian Award Presentation

·      7.10.02, 9 p.m. (EST), ESPN - Espy Awards Live from Hollywood. Apolo is nominated for Best U.S. Olympian.

Print:

·      W Magazine, July issue - Should be out there now. (I’ll believe it when I see it!!!)

·     Sports Illustrated for Women - Hits stands 6.25. (And I believe this when I see it, then lick all the ink off the pages - right there in the store!)

Hi. Long time, no babble. Sorry. I guess that Sports Illustrated For Women swimsuit picture sent me for a loop. My body has ached for days. I mean, Apolo literally shut me up and shut me down. He did it on purpose. Everyone has been trying to put words to that expression on his face. Well, here’s the exclusive on that. He is speaking directly to me, saying, “Velma, no more Fantasy Pics of my head on other guy’s bods. I’m givin’ you this, so don’t you dare. Got me, girl?”

Oh, my sweet Emperor! *prostrating in the direction of our sexual mecca* I swear, I will never, never, never, never, never ever make another pic for the “Messin’ With Nature” exhibit again. I promise. Thank you. *kissing his royal toes* Thank you for your gracious gift and forgiveness.

*getting back up, dusting off knees and hands*

Okay. Enough of that. I hate groveling. Piff.

Hey, here is the kicker. I had just hung up a new Fantasy Pic in the “Messin’ With Nature” exhibit just moments before the SI pic hit the Internet. I had thought about retiring that exhibit anyway, but I had this one last picture in me. So, I had to get it out. After I saw the SI pic, I felt shame, like I had eaten the forbidden fruit and now needed to be cast out of Eden. But, I let the pic stay up unannounced. Of course, now I’m announcing it. So, if you feel like taking a break from the SI shots, you can check it out here.

Shots? Plural? Yeah. Most of you know what I’m saying. There is an out take picture from the SI shoot floating around on the Web, too. If you haven’t already skipped passed all the babble to scroll down here and look at it, well here T I ’tis:

Please forgive me if this seems irreverent, but does it look like he has a third nipple on his right breast? I mean, oh, baby! That would be so choice freaky, it would be hot! *purr* Apolo, please oh please be my freak, luvah.

Okay. Is anyone still with me? ‘Cause I’m just gonna keep on babblin’ . . .

Major Dark Blades Announcement:
Angelpie Named to Staff

Angelpie, the author of many stupendous Music scenarios, has graciously accepted the position of DB Information Officer. She is a great talent and information scout, as well as a super writer and grand friend. Angelpie has done so much behind the scenes work for Dark Blades (and the In Apolo’s Name project). Racci and I knew she had earned a position with us and that we were long overdue in awarding it to her.

You can check her out in our recently updated Staff Box. If you would like to send her congratulations, just address an email to Angelpie at our addy, darkbladeweaver@yahoo.com. You can also check out her latest Music scenario here.

Showin' Love In Apolo’s Name
According to the New York Times, Apolo received 15,347 votes from fans who voted in the SI Sexiest Male Athlete poll. That is so cool. He trumped the second place fellow (Alexei Yagudin, who I have always said took the silver to Apolo’s gold in the Finest Olympic Ass Contest) by more than 13,000 votes.

Just think, if each person who voted in the poll had sent in $1 to RMHC in his name, Apolo would already have that residential room named after him in the new RMH.

Have you shown your Apolo Love and donated to RMHC? If you haven’t yet, please visit www.oocities.org/inapolosname. If you have any questions at all, just email us.

Well, I’m about babbled out for the day. It is amazing, but true.

Have a great Thursday night!

Updates
Hey, it is what you have all been waiting for! I have updated the Feedback page!

What? You don’t read the Feedback page? You don’t like going to read messages from people complimenting the site? What is the matter with you?

Well, we love reading it. I mean we need  feedback. Since we don’t have a forum or message board of our own, the only way we know how well you like the site is via your emails and posts on other boards. I’m not gonna lie. We need your love. We’d still do this even if you didn’t like it, but the fact that you do makes us work just a little bit harder.  :)  So, go read the Feedback page. Show it some love.

Extra! Extra!
Short Track Monthly is a brand new paper newsletter about the short track world that two industrious young women are putting together. The first issue goes to press next week. This inaugural issue is extra cool as it features an article on the In Apolo’s Name project.

“We are just short track fans trying to get some cool info around to other fans,”

– Jill, Short Track Monthly publisher

I think it sounds awesome. I am really looking forward to seeing how it turns out. What a fun artifact to have from this time in our lives! Each issue costs $1 to cover printing and mailing costs. I think it is worth at least a first look. Contact Trace or Jill at short_track_monthly@yahoo.com with your request for the premiere issue and your snail mail addy.

Well, thank goodness Apolo is worth more than $800. The dinner with Apolo that was up for auction on ebay finally went for $4k, I’m told. Of course, I think I said I would cry for him if he wasn’t able to pull in at least $5k. So, I have a crying fit scheduled for later this evening.

Once in a while I check our site stats to see how people are finding us on search engines. They are always amusing, but I found some last night that just had me laughing out loud. I thought you might get a kick out of them too. These are the keywords most recently used and by what percent they were used when finding the Dark Blades Voyeur page.

apolo ohno cock:  19.67%
voyeur sex noise:  15.89%
my maltese is humping my arm:  13.90%
scooby doobie pic:  12.70%
gotcha voyeur:  11.51%
voyeur gotcha:  8.74%
voyeur asleep girls:  2.00%
sweet romantic gay guys kissing pics:  0.73%
bizzaro movie animals dark:  0.43%
the hard cock of apolo ohno:  14.41%

Note: Not just his cock, but his hard cock, and not just his hard cock, but THE hard cock of Apolo Ohno. It has become its own entity.

Happy Monday afternoon!

I have very little to report. Sorry. I’ve been a little preoccupied with trying to get the word out about the In Apolo’s Name project.

I’m so lame. I thought, “Oh yeah, we’ll just make this Web site and let the all the fans run with it. Simple.” Nope. People have to be told, convinced, romanced into the idea. I am way too lazy for this. Gurg. But really, it is for a great cause, so I trudge on.

I have been yearning to get back to my Dark Blades home. Good ol’ Dark Blades. Ahhhhh. So, hopefully this week I’ll get around to putting some good stuff up on the site. We have a laundry basket full of material just waiting to be washed and put on the line. As usual, I just ask you to stay tuned.

Found your copy of W yet? I haven’t. I am trying to take a Zen approach to it, though – trying not to have the Scarlet O’Hara fit I threw when looking for the People magazine back in May.

Note: Tom Cruise is on the cover of the July ish for which we are looking.

Friday, as I went on what seems like now my bi-monthly magazine rack safari for Apolo pictorials, I realized W is pretty darn obscure. I mean it is no Rolling Stone, People, or Time. So, I had to let go of the idea that I would find it right away. In my search I have seen all kinds of magazines out there like O, D, XXL, and YM – but no W.

YM – that mag is everywhere, and I am not complaining. Brandon Boyd is currently on the cover seducing everyone within eyeshot. We know a girl who was on the Brandon train long before anyone else. Man, oh, man. (Nod to a girl named Jess.) Then I saw him in the new Incubus video for “Warning.” Dang. Dang. Dang. Someone please write a distraction for him.

Well, that is all my news that is fit to type in at this moment. Hopefully I’ll have something more substantial to report in the coming days.

Please remember to get the word out about the In Apolo’s Name project, and make your donations as soon as possible so we can start reporting tallies and get your name up on the site. Cheers!

Well, darn it. I have spent so much time today trying to push out the In Apolo’s Name project, I haven’t taken a moment to come on here and explain it all to the most important people I know – people who read Weaver Babble. Sorry, my dear Babble readers.

Okay. So, what the hell am I talking about? (Hee. Hee. Such a frequent question.)

Well, remember last week (5.29.02) I was babbling about Apolo appearing at the groundbreaking for the new Ronald McDonald House in Seattle? And remember how I mentioned that they still need donations and that Racci and I were going to look into it more? We had decided we could do a little bit more than just sit here and go, “humph.”

Since last week we have been communicating with the folks at the Seattle Ronald McDonald House Charities about opportunities for helping them reach their goals. We kept thinking if every Apolo fan out there just donated a little bit, it would really help RMHC meet their goal so they could complete construction of the new RMH. Then we came up with a simple plan – get everyone to donate to Seattle RMHC and make the donation in Apolo’s name.

We knew this could NOT be a Dark Blades thing. Hey, we know we are taboo. So, I created a whole new un-DB site: www.oocities.org/inapolosname

The site does not promote any one particular Apolo site out there. This will be the first time ALL Apolo fans gather at one point for one universal effort without competition among sites or fans. The page is like a visitors’ center where people can come to get information on where to send contributions, find a list of all the partner sites, find a list of people who have contributed in Apolo’s name so far, and a tally bar to see how much money has been raised in Apolo’s name.

I hope you guys can get into this. It is so simple. It’s just Apolo fans showin’ the love. And I most certainly know yooz all gotz the luv!

We figure if everyone gets behind it, we can accomplish two cool things:

  1. Help RMHC reach its goal to help all the families who come to the Seattle area for medical treatment.
  2. Send a big message to Apolo letting him know his fans greatly admire and want to emulate his charitable heart - among other things.

I am still trying to contact all the sites out there. If you see a site that isn’t promoting this effort, let us know. Maybe we haven’t found them yet. Also, please promote this through the forums, your emails, IMs, and phone calls. Word-of-mouth is our best tool.

Remember, this is not a Dark Blades thing. This belongs to everyone. I’m just the monkey working backstage. If you have any comments or questions, just email us. You know the addy. (Okay, okay. darkbladeweaver@yahoo.com or inapolosname@yahoo.com)

Okay, I missed, like, the first couple of minutes of “Last Call” last night. I never saw Quarashi. I am not even sure they were on at all. So, if you watched the whole show and never saw them, please accept my apologies. Looks like we were had. Bastards.

Just added a new friend to the High Bidders page. Woo, Angelpie! Her bid lasted for almost a whole day. The dream almost seemed like it was gonna come true. Sorry pal.

5:30 p.m. - Rock Alert!

Quarashi is going to be performing on “Last Call” tonight, which if you don’t know airs on NBC after Conan.

You don’t know Quarashi? Well, you should.

Quarashi was mentioned in my very first Babble entry back in March. They are hip-hoppers from Iceland. Yeah, Iceland. After visiting their site (www.quarashi.net) I found out they are children of communists now enjoying the fruits of capitalism. I bought their CD Jinx at the “discovery price” of $9. What a bargain! It was well worth it. You can hear the influences of Rage Against the Machine, as well as the Beastie Boys. Their first single is “Stick ‘Em Up,” which totally rocks. My favorite track on the CD is “Tarfur.” It is the first rap song ever recorded in the Icelandic language. You have no idea what they are saying, which makes it even cooler. So, run out and go get yo’self a copy of Jinx. I promise, you’ll dig it. Then watch them tonight on “Last Call.”

Also, don’t forget to go bid on that dinner with Apolo that is up on ebay!

2 a.m. - Racci and I have wanted Apolo for dinner since we first saw him. Unbelievably, the opportunity for just that has arrived. It was discovered this weekend that the finest man in the universe has put himself up on the auction block. If you weren’t aware by now, you can go right now to ebay and bid on an evening with Apolo. Here is the link to the page.

Apparently, Apolo, the dearest, sweetest man that ever lived, is doing this to raise money for a “13-year-old boy from Colorado who has had a lifetime of difficulties with heart defects.” (Apolo, good God, I love you.)

So, super early Sunday morning, compelled by charity and lust, Racci made a bold bid and ended up being the top bidder for, what, like 5 minutes?

“Yes.”

Rac, what was your outbid limit?

“$666.69.”

Right. Hee. Such a naughty naughty.  :)

Anyway, I am quite certain, with something like 7 days left on the auction, the winning bid is going to reach the multiple thousands. (I will be personally insulted for Apolo if he doesn’t generate at least $5K.)

So, here is what I have to say to you: Go bid! Sure, sure you may not win. In fact, you probably won’t. However, when you make a bid:

  1. You can say you did it! You were a part of it!
  2. You can help raise the amount of money that will eventually go to help a really sick boy get the help he needs.
  3. You can jack up the price high enough so that the spoiled brat and his/her friend who do win the auction will have to pay dearly for this dream come true. (Yes, the darker motive rears its ugly head.)

I’ll be watching! If you bid and your name gets up on the high bidder page, print the screen to a bit map, GIF, or JPG file and send it to me. I’ll put you up on the High Bidders page.

Happy Monday and happy bidding!

4 p.m. - Cue the drum roll please. Tah-dah! The Weaver Babble has been archived!

I know. I know. It’s not exactly a thrill for you – not exactly what you were requesting. However, it needed to be done, and I am happy to have it finished.

Okay. So, let me explain how it works.

I have archived the Babble entries by month. Notice the Babble Morgue list in the sidebar.  Just click on a month you want to view and you will be directed to that page of archived entries. The archive pages look essentially the same as this main Babble page. However, the lists at the left disappear and are replaced by the number of entries for that particular month along with a list of highlights from the archive.

Also, you may notice on this page above Babble Morgue is something called DB Reports & Reviews. This is where I can place “articles” we write from time-to-time – pieces that are extensions of Babble entries, reports on events or happenings, or reviews of one thing or another.

Hey people! Hey people! Calm yourselves! I know this is a little more excitement that you counted on for today. Just roll with it, baby.
