The bright green dragon watched the pair, dragon and rider, on the shore, from where she was bathing in the large lake at Tripaldi Weyr. The dragon, a darkly colored blue, stood beside his rider, a short, blond-haired man who looked to be in his mid-to late-twenties. They seemed to be argueing with each other, casting occasional glances at her. Mynialeth shrugged, and began to ignore the odd duo. "No, Aavaanaath." G'vin said crossly, shaking his head at his blue dragon. "You are not chasing, because we are not going to be here long enough for Mynialeth to rise, so you can just forget it." But G'vin! The dark blue dragon pleaded. Oh, come on! You never let me chase. Aavaanaath sulked. G'vin rolled his eyes. He and Aavaanaath were searchers for Darkling Dawn, here looking for candidates. As they had not found any suitable candidates at this weyr, they had been getting ready to leave, when Aavaanaath had, quite literally, fallen in love at first sight with the green dragon Mynialeth. Humph. The blue dragon said, and lay down in his rider's path. Fine then, you can go back home to Darkling Dawn. I, on the other hand, am going to stay here until Mynialeth rises, whether you like it or not. G'vin sighed. "Aavaanaath, you can't do this to me! I can't get home without you, you great big shaffing lizard! I can't go between." So? Use your magic. Aavaanaath said dryly. After all, that's what got you to this planet in the first place. G'vin rolled his eyes. "You kidding? I gave that up turns ago. If I hadn't, I probably would have fried myself by now." He muttered as Aavaanaath laughed. Well then, looks like you're stuck here, aren't you? The blue dragon said smugly. G'vin groaned. Finally making up his mind, he whistled, and a bronze fire lizard appeared in the air, fluttering onto the man's shoulder. G'vin wrote something down on a peice of hide, tying it to the bronze's leg. "Go home, Ardon. Find Teah!" He told the flit, who creeled and disappeared between. Aavaanaath watched with interest. What's that? "A letter to Weyrwoman Teah. Telling her that we'll be staying here at Tripaldi for a few sevendays." He said, glaring at the blue. Aavaanaath mocked a shocked look. Why, G'vin, won't we be here longer if I catch Mynialeth? G'vin snorted. "As if that'll happen." |
