Solid Objects
Solid Objects was a performance by the artist in the audiorium of the British Council Gallery, as part of the 'engaging the NOWHERE' exhibition.
It consisited of the artist, sitting still on a stage with a television on her lap which played a video. Another video was simultaneously projected on a screen behind and to the side of where the artist sat.
The video consisted of close - up shots of the artist with an object, repeating an action. The narrative consisted of passages revolving around the theme of a specific object, un - related to the image on the screen. Each narrative/visual was about 3 minutes in length, with a total of 9, lasting 25 minutes. The videos were self shot, as was the narrative which used the artist's voice in differing and manipulated speeds.
The series of continuous images and narratives aimed to induce in the audience a sense of non - corellation and meaninglessness - so as to give up analysing the content, and find escape from this trap of meaning, object and reason. |
